I wonder if Porch Pirates are only west coast?

Several times a week I notice a number of mailboxes open and mail theft isn't unusual...

My box signals anytime it is open and sometimes it's in the middle of the night.

Never had any mail theft or porch pirates lurking about that we are aware of but we are hoping to install a mailbox alert in our box, just in case. Not sure in 350' line of sight is to far for the RF transmitter.

Only thing lower den a porch pirate is a slithering internet moderator who steals posts.

I can do that with my LLBean account going back ten years, and could do the same with Cabelas until recently. It's handy for things like boots, when I find a pair that I like I can go back to an old order and get the same thing again.

How many items does LL Bean offer vs Amazon?

I'm going to guess that the Porch Pirate problem is the worst in the middle class suburbs?

Likely. My home in town is in a neighborhood with a lot of retired people and work-from-home types. Now with Coronavirus lockdowns people are out walking for exercise all day. You can't go around a large block without seeing at the minimum 3~4 singles or couples that you recognize as locals. (And at least one UPS - FedEx - Amazon van). No theft incidents that I'm aware of. I think theft is more likely where people still have to go to work and homes are vacant all day.

I am told there are continual posts about porch pirates on social media, in the overall region.

No problem out at the ranch (orchard). UPS leaves stuff in plain sight outside the gate. Their drivers know which are high risk neighborhoods and they have no concern there.

More up scale from my experience but it is all relative.

I guess up scale have more deliveries and homes spread out a little more.

Yes relative. Middle class is a function of the lens you are viewing. Someone's 'private' porch should be domain. Makes me want to defend it more. I could ramble on..: but why I should have to.
