Snow Blade mounting a snow blade on a front end loader

/ mounting a snow blade on a front end loader #21
If anyone is looking for some good info on mounting a plow on the front end loader, feel free to ask away. I have looked everywhere and researched a ton of different options. What I have come up with is in my opinion the most useful, cost effective, and easy to find parts.

I used this to mount to the quick attach system on my tractor (LS XR4140HC): Three Point Adapters - Quick Tach Attachments - Tractor Attachments

I bought a local Diamond Trip Edge Plow for the 1980's or 1990's, solid heavy quality steel unit ( You can also use a Fisher Plow): Diamond Edge | Trip Edge Snow Plows | Meyer

A few CAT2 pins, some chain, and other some items you can put it all together. Using all these parts allows thew plow to float using the chain system like a truck would and not use the force of the loader to control the plow.

I ran hydraulic lines from my rear controls to angle the plow left to right. I used a crossover release valve to limit any damage if anything is hit with the plow.

Drew,

Do you have any additional pics that show more detail on how you put this together?

Here are links to my plow mods (same tractor as yours). Originally I made it rigid frame to the QA plate. The blade has its own trip edge.

I later modified it to make the blade float like it would if mounted on a truck. See posts 7 and 18 for pics.

Thanks George. I will take a look at these posts when I have a few minutes. I am not capable of welding and fabricating. I am much better at following instructions...

I have a kioti ck 30 and am considering putting on a quick attach 8 ft blade.. dealer doesnt recommend this as he says can damadge loader arms ,,, anyone here have any prob;ems

tks

Back in the early 1980's, FEL plows were all but unheard of on compact tractors due to possible loader arm damage. Ignoring my dealers advice I built one for my little Kubota B7100 from an old 6 1/2 ' Western plow I took off a wrecked jeep. It was amazing what that little 17 HP tractor would do in the snow! After using it for 3 seasons, I noticed cracks forming in the welds on the loader arms. I re welded them and used the setup for another 2 seasons before selling the tractor to a friend. As far as I know, he's still using it.

Newer compact tractor FELs are designed for use with plows and many companies sell them. Although I can't speak for your CK 30, I used FEL plows on my Kubota L3010 and L3430 without any problems. I still use them on my L6060 and MX5800 as well. As others have mentioned, using a spring trip mulboard and crossover relief valve are a good idea. In my experience, tire chains, at least on the front, are also a great help.

I didn't have to weld anything with my setup, and the plow detaches from the 3pt plat quick and easy so it can be used for other functions.

I also grooved my tires. I've been plowing in 2wd

I have a Titan 6 foot front plow on a TYM 394. Love the set up. I plow cautiously but have not had any problems.

We are considering a FEL quick attach plow on a Mahindra 1533 (34 hp) tractor. We have 1/2 mile driveway, mostly stone, not a lot of shoulder in some parts. Also in some areas plowing to the left shoulder would be best, and other areas the right shoulder would be best. We're considering a v-shaped plow which would in theory eliminate the need to tilt the blade from left and then to right, and in theory eliminate the problem of torque on the loader arms. We only need 6-7 feet of cleared path-enough to get a pickup through. Has anybody used a plow with a slight v-shape to spread the snow on both shoulders simultaneously. Seems like it would take less hp and put less stress on everything. We're not interested in dealing with hydraulics and the thing needs to be quik-attach compatible. Would appreciate comments/advice. THANKS

A fixed V plow isn't going to be real handy when you need to push the banks back.
Only clearing 6-7 ft doesn't give you much room for turns for the pickup.

Depends how much snow you get;what happens if you can't push it?The hydraulics are simple.

My plow tilts but I have parking area for my Notary business so I just plow with the blade straight. Works fine for me.

I have a 7 foot blade off of an old case SC tractor front end loader. On the old' case it angled and plowed snow for 40 years and that poor loader frame shown it. I inherited it and mounted it to the 790 but made it a straight blade. Tractor loaders aren't really made for the sideways strain like an angle blade puts on them.

I have had four tractors with blades on the fel for snow plows. The first was a 28hp challenger with a converted 8' fisher plow. The second had the same plow and was a 33 hp challenger tractor. Both handled straight plowing great. Pushing to the side pushed the tractor. Both had R4 tires, loaded and chains on the rear. The next was a Kubota L4240 with R4 tires loaded and chained on the rear. After a couple years with the same plow I upgraded to a HLA 7' plow. This was a nice plow and worked very well. Last year I took a leap and traded up to a Kubota M7060 with loaded and chained tires on the rear. I also had the front tires studded. Due to the size of the new tractor the plowed was undersized. I went up one class of HLA and to a 9' wide plow. This is quite a tractor/plow combination. It is still pushed sideways, but only with heavy wet snow over 8" deep.

There is a realistic opportunity to bend the arms if the fel if the plow is overworked or maybe after many years of service.

There is, yeh. I was catching shade from some tbn people about building my little snow plow, "it's gonna be a pretzel the first time you use it". Yeh well, I'd rather my plow take damage before my loader arms do. And btw, plow works fine.

Last couple years my plow is collecting more rust then snow.
