Just changed the Christmas flags for the winter ones, usually the 1st is like a light switch to the weather here. Almost always goes cold and nasty. Not this year, I feel a little weird putting out snowman flags at 67 degrees. Im going to send the temp pic to my cousin in Calirado.

Old man arriving tonight hang around until Monday AM with snow freezing rain least temps mid 20's during the day....looking forward to our January thaw.

We had a foot of snow on Christmas morning. It was light and fluffy. Really made for a nice white Christmas. Easy to plow or shovel. Most melted within 3-4 days. Today, we had freezing rain all day. Here's the view out of one of our windows a few minutes ago...

We're about to get our first major storm of the season... or our first storm of the year, take your pick. ;) They're talking about 6-10 inches of white stuff tomorrow, so maybe I can start using my new snowsled.

Last time they predicted 6 inches here we got 40:eek: All bets are off.

Weird weather has become the norm around here. Two days ago we got a total of nine inches of nice, fluffy snow. Since that time its been raining and now I've got three inches of SLOP. If you like a nice white Xmas/New Year - it's a real disappointment. I've learned to be happy that we are, at least, getting moisture.

And here's the view this morning. Sat up until about 3:00am. We lost power momentarily about a dozen times. Saw 5-6 transformers arc between about 10:00pm and 2:00am. Beautiful flashes with the low cloud cover and snow. Orange, then green/white.

33,000 without power in our area this morning.

We were lucky in NE Indiana, just a day of spitting freezing rain, Satellite Dish froze up a few times, a few hours later it melted off......

It doesn't look like it's gonna melt here anytime soon. I'm gonna have to get out today, scrape off 4 cars, and head over to my mother-in-law's to scrape and salt her a path to her mailbox.

Still wondering if I'm gonna plow my driveway or not. There's a coating of ice under what appears to be crunchy snow. I may just leave it for traction. Supposed to be 38 for 3 days later this week.

No need for me to plow my mile long driveway. Plowing slop is not fun. I just drove out to the mail box and back. Now there is a perfectly good "track" thru a mile of slop. And the rain continues...........

I live on the edge of my woods, and see a few walnut limbs down...... but is seems if I pee on the base of a walnut tree I get limbs down!

Prettiest snow in Oklahoma I have ever seen. Taken yesterday. The piles of limbs are from the record ice storm we had in late October; still waiting on the city to pick them up.

34F here at this time, I just got back in from squeegeeing 3 inches of wet slop somewhat off the driveway.
Forecast high of 37F today then more possible precipitation for the next few days and cooler highs in the low 30's and lows in the 20's.
Didn't dare leave the slop that deep could have been a real mess.
So I drug the backblade backwards thru is and it squeegeed the slop to the side without digging up a bunch of gravel.
And the chains made a good pattern in the harder stuff.

Last time they predicted 6" here we got 2. :(
Seems like all the storms have gone to the south of us over the last few years, or were northeasters...we're in kind of a snow shadow for those coastal storms.

My mother and sister live not too far from you. They got buried in that storm you mentioned, we got maybe 4".

Holy cow on the branches. We visited one of our kids in Stillwater the day after that ice storm. We were there for a week and saw no one removing branches except to push them off the sidewalks. I know it was widespread damage, as we saw it in OKC and Tulsa as well. What's the holdup reasoning? Pandemic labor issues, lack of funds? Just curious, as whenever we have widespread damage like that, it's usually gone in a couple weeks.

Our snowfall yesterday after the coating of ice made a very similar scene. Not much accumulation in total. A nice coating everywhere. It's just started to fall off the branches as the temps are 34 now. I'm letting it melt the cars off instead of scraping. :)
