Retaining walls and patio

So I've got the retaining wall under control, it's just a matter of time to stack and backfill.

For the pavers, I'm planning on running pvc for a couple of channel drains back there, then a layer of weed barrier followed by 4 inches of granite fines compacted, then 2 inches of washed concrete sand for the base. Am I good with that setup?

How are you transporting all that crushed rock back fill to this area?

I don't see any tractor or (heaven forbid) wheel barrow tracks. How will you do it when the wall gets higher? It makes me tired just thinking about it.

I was lucky on my walls. The taller wall I could approach from below at right angles with my BX24 and just dump the gravel. The shorter wall I had to work from above and parallel. Some shovel work but not too bad. I can understand now the reluctance to geogrid.

Wheel barrow and 5 gallon buckets.

I think because of the volume of gravel needed to fill this long straight section, in addition to all the work needed on the patio, we'll bring in a bx for help. We've already moved about 13 yards of rock by hand.

I do not see how it would make a better tool than a wheelbarrow

You can pull it with a tractor. You can pull it with a tractor and a chain when there is no room for the tractor close. You can pull it with a cable and block (sheave) when you don't have straight line access for a chain. With a wheelbarrow, you are still carrying a fraction of the weight with your back.

The drawback to a stone boat is that you don't have a good dump height for gravel.

Ifn I was going to change up from a wheelbarrow I would go for a Toro Dingo, they can fit in most places a Wheelbarrow fits, even if you only rented one for a day or two, may make a huge difference in the amount of work you need to expend moving all those blocks

Don't hafta fight it
Blocks slide on, minimal lifting
Only gotta lift block once
Tow in and out wid rope

Dump height on wheelbarrow go away fast by 2nd row block above grade.
