GC2410 Hood

Hi all, I lifted my hood the other day to get the battery charger off and when I tried to lower the hood to close it it came off at the bottom where it was hinged, was wondering if it is welded on or if it is made to be removable but either way I could use some guidance in how to reattach it.

For what it's worth, my 2310's hood is bolted on, both on the underside of the hood and at the hinge points on the frame, using a U-shaped tubular sub-frame.

That is what I was thinking too but then thought that perhaps they made these to be easily removed for easier access if needed.

Here's how mine's bolted -- 4 bolts (I should say, nuts -- they're on studs that protrude from the hood) on the under-hood brackets, two hinge bolts down by the black grille. They probably use an elastic stop-nut on those hinges so it can still move but the nuts stay put; sounds like one of yours may have come off.

2 bolts in from side separate hood from tractor 2 bolts from underside sep hinge.
attached is page 37 of service manual (eng removal section) showing removing 2 bolts for hood.


would have attached actual pdf page but could not, can not get graphics any better sorry

Thank you, I think this is the set up I have, so I am thinking my bolts came off or snapped, now that I know a little more of what I am dealing with thanks to your great photos I can proceed in repairing it.

prob the differences between gc2300 and gc2400 series.
don't have a 1700 series in yard right now but think it uses setup similar to the 2400 pics I posted but don't hold me to that.

if hinge is broke for gc2400 hinge part number is 6254355M2

Thanks again, I will have take a better look at the hood hinge and check it out, thanks to you and others I now have an idea what I am dealing with.
