Finished up the larger fish structure. Should make for a good area to hold fish. 20 foot in diameter by 6 foot tall. Still have two smaller ones that I plan to make in one of the shallower areas.

I've followed your thread and as I was sitting here reading this last post I was thinking how you would have never built this pond/lake this year in SC. I dug a hole the other day for something and the water is literally just below the surface. I've never seen it this wet for this long and it's still raining almost daily. The upside would be you could fill that thing up in a day here. I like it a lot and can't wait to see it full.

Are you using much weight to hold them down? During a large inflow / outflow event you will be surprised at the amount of current, even in the deeper parts.

Was thinking the same thing and also the trapping air inside this contraption causing too much buoyancy.

I'll bet he has rocks in the 55 gal. drums.

Yes. Probably 120 lbs in each including top one..
Top is also tied to the bottom drums. Drums are upright with no lids and holes in them as well so there is no buoyancy.

Are you at all concerned about having to... look at that crazy contraption right under the water surface for the rest of your life? I probably would have gone with stumps and logs instead, for the aesthetic consideration. That said, your structure have more fish hidey-holes, and you could always paint them real quick....

Top of the structure is about 3ft below the water surface. If I've done my job correct and the pond holds water you will never see it. Missouri ponds in my area are all mud bottom. Vegetation doesn't normally grow in water deeper than 3 feet because of lack of sunlight meaning the structure will be hidden. Water here is just not very clear due to mud bottom and sediment. Also planning to paint the pvc green per a recommendation on another forum about fish not feeling comfortable on the white backdrop of the pvc.
