Can you legally carry concealed, in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Mexafornia?

I live 100 yards from the edge of a National Park.. it's far from any tourist area and has no official entrance near me but for years I've been off-leash walking my dogs over a 5 mile trail to a spring-fed pond and back. Never once saw another human sole until 6 years ago when I (or rather, my dogs) encountered an armed Lynx poacher. I called back the dogs, high-tailed it back home, and called the Rangers. Shortly after I petitioned to get a permit to carry in the park (which I was told was absolutely forbidden) but surprise! I was granted an OPEN carry permit - had to qual with the rangers, they endorsed it under the reason of basically patrolling for offenders.
Here's the weird thing.. I have no carry permit for the 100 yds. to the park boundary and in my county it's actually illegal to open carry an unloaded firearm unless you're psychically on your "residence".
Welcome to Crapfornia. :censored:

oh, and ya, they caught the guy who (with his brother) had been mass trapping Lynx to sell their pelts to south Africa. They were really efficient, the Lynx population in the area still hasn't fully recovered.

Kalifornia has some weird gun laws. Especially when it comes to camp sites and RVs. Like a loaded gun locked in a storage safe in a motor home going down the road is illegal because it's a vehicle. But the same in a trailer is legal because it's your home. But park either almost anywhere and both are legal because it's a camp site.

no, not because it's a vehicle, it's illegal if it's LOADED. Unloaded, locked, separated from ammunition and out of reach from anyone it's perfectly legal.

you're right, but the keyword is "residence" which is defined only as "where one resides" so, it's OK to carry at a campsite (unless it's banned by the owners) since that's where you reside at the moment.
AFAIK, the only place in California where you can confidently OPEN carry without a permit is on Public State Land unless it's specifically banned (like parks and nature reserves). Also, of course, in all cases you must be legally allowed to possess the firearm or other regulated weapon you are carrying.
Also, some BLM land has restrictions that change from time to time largely due to fire hazard.. like no steel "freedom pellets" due to potential sparking. The closest BLM land to me requires a fire extinguisher be present at the moment, there have been times where only shotguns using lead shot were allowed. My son and I went out to hand-throw some clays and a couple of rangers showed up.. they just advised us not to shoot steel and then, joined us in a trap session using our guns.. those guys could throw hard! fun!

however i do have a question.

if you were one at fault(you made a mistake) and it recorded it, can they use the evidence in court against you.

someone would have to know the recording existed and be able to get their hands on it.
I had a guy "swoop and squat" me on a city street.. i was lucky a resident saw it and testified or I (and my insurance company) would have been nailed. After that I installed front and rear cameras - and got lucky... a 20-something on a sport bike was high speed splitting traffic stopped at a light - timing it so it would turn green right when he got to the front.. It went green right as I was crossing and not quite out of the intersection yet. He came through a rammed my right side HARD. Bike bascially exploded (suzuki - mostly plastic and broken welds) hospital, parents threatening me...Then even a witness comes forward (a guy who made his living wrangling rattlesnakes) saying it was my fault. HA! my camera showed I was legal in 4K HD with sound! BAHAHAHha.. my insurance company handled everything and I sued snake man.
I think cameras should be standard equipment nowadays.. the ahole quotient of the general population has skyrocketed.

I remember the first time I was driving out there I had just left SFA crossed the Bay Bridge, traffic was moving 25-30 MPH, I looked in the rear view mirror getting ready to do a lane change, and had I not looked, I would have knocked the guy running down the white lines into September...........

New visitors should be warned as soon as they rent a car!

There is something to consider about driving a vehicle without adequate brakes. In WA and I am sure most states if you get into a crash that's your fault and kill someone, If you did nothing with intent it was just an error on your part, The most they can do to you is a ticket. An infraction because there was no intent that is needed for a criminal charge. But if you did anything with intent that contributed to it you will be criminally charged. Driving a vehicle with known inadequate brakes would be intent. Just as DUI is. Or reckless driving. I know a guy who worked for a competing freight company who is in prison for vehicular homicide. He had non DOT approved headlights in his pick up. An oncoming driver was blinded by them. She moved into his lane and hit him head on. She survived and said that's why it happened. Her child was killed. They checked the headlights in his truck and found them to be illegal. He had intent by installing them and driving at night with them. The other driver was intoxicated and got a DUI. He got 7 years. There was a truck driver who was in violation of the hours of duty laws. He was rear ended and the guy died. He was found to be at fault because he should not have been there and his company was on the hook. Because he knowingly drove after going over hours he was charged and went to prison. And his log violation was the day before but it was within the last 7 days so it still counted. He should not have been there yet and would not have been if he had followed the law. So if you drive a vehicle you know is not legal you are taking a major risk for yourself as well as others. If a trailer has brakes they must work in every state. Even if the trailer is under the weight where they are required if they are there they must work. That's DOT law. If you don't even have the tow vehicle set up for them you will be found to have intent. You could go to prison even if the crash would otherwise be the other persons fault. Doing stupid things can have serious consequences. To you and others.

Dang, that gets complicated... When I'm towing goofy stuff it's usually on back roads or the only city I go through is downtown Salem which only has a couple iffy spots... one time I got cut off and locked up all 8 tires apparently while being 18k pounds... they were like 2' from the front bumper, I was going 35mph over a bridge, my heart rate returned to normal about an hour later... I'd probably be at fault since likely that's over weight for a '97 F350 diesel 5 speed, even though the setup is capable with two braking trailer axles.
