How’s Eddie?

I just talked to my BIL, they got it early March. He said he's feeling better, but still having some issues. Going on almost a year after. BIL is /was very healthy, good weight, swam at the Y 3 times a week, but still feeling fatigue. Probably better to not get the virus in the first place, even with 99+ percent survival rate.

Tell that to the 1 percent of the population that can die.

Long term - We still do not know the full impact of this.

I'll take the 99.9xxx% chance of survival.

We should be more worried about heart disease and cancer which affects 1 out of 2 over the age of 45.

COVID passed heart disease and cancer as the leading cause of death in the U.S. About 4300 people die in the U.S. every month from cancer and heart disease combined. About 3200 people are dying of COVID every week, so about 13,000 per month.

In response to your quote: We should be far more worried about those in leadership roles with..... brain dysfunction!

You're an Epidemiologist AND a Psychologist, or is it a practicing Psychiatrist?? You can run for President in four years, esp if you 'know more than just about anybody' and have 'great numbers' we'll never need to hear.

Prayers for those who live among others.

Another update. Today I'm feeling a lot better, but I'm going to take the day off just to be sure. My fear is that if I push myself too quickly, I'll be off another week instead of just a few days.

My wife's son works at one of the local hospitals and he just tested positive. He is 28 years old. He is required to wear a mask at all times, but from what we understand, most people are getting Covid from taking off their masks improperly and contaminating themselves with their hands.

My dad is 84 and he has had cancer twice. He wears a mask when he leaves the house and never takes it off until he gets home. The only place my parents go is to get groceries, or to doctors appointments. Yesterday he said that he was lightheaded, exhausted and that he couldn't smell anything. He will get tested in a couple of days.

My wife is feeling great. She has had a total recovery. She had colon cancer 3 years ago, which triggered, or woke up Lupus. She never knew she has Lupus before then, but her doctors think it was so mild that nobody ever found it until the Chemo and Radiation treatments weakened her so much that the Lupus was able to become an issue. Her treatment for Lupus is Hydroxychloroquine, and she feels it is a big reason she didn't get as sick as me, and that she has recovered so quickly compared to me. She still doesn't have all of there sense of smell back, but it's almost there. Otherwise, she is symptom free of Covid and full of energy!!

We are still undecided if we are going to take the vaccine. Some days she says yes, then more data comes out and she says no. The other day, she was back to being in favor of it, but that doesn't mean we will. With her position at the University, we both get to go to the front of the line if we decide to get it.

On the going for groceries subject... maybe you already know this, our grocery store has on-line ordering. When we were contagious, we needed some groceries but couldn't go out. We filled out the order on-line and scheduled a pick-up time. Drove up to the back of the store, called the number, popped the trunk from inside the car, they came out and loaded it in the trunk. No contact and no shopping. It was $5. Well worth it.

We also could have had it delivered to the house.

Those are some options your dad might want to investigate.

That type service currently seems to be available just about everywhere.
Good thing !

I hope all is well for your Dad. My concern all along has been for my parents who are older with health concerns.

I've said from the onset...if a mask is working...it's contaminated and should be treated as so...a majority of mask wearers defeat the purpose by constantly touching it or removing it to eat, drink or talk etc...

Mild symptoms and speedy recoveries to all infected...
