I know Indiana legalized switchblades and balisongs several years ago. The reasoning was spring assisted one-handed knives were already common so what's the difference? Also, around here, everyone shoots each other.

Check you local state laws.

Same here in Missouri. When I was a kid all "automatic" knives were illegal. But now no problem. The law was changed several years ago now. I still carry my one hand non assisted opener's but lots of guys do carry the automatics.

I pulled out a handful of pocket knives just for fun.

The two red balisongs on the left I purchased as camping knives for my wife and me. Her's is still in mint condition. Mine's been used heavily. :laughing:

The little black balisong I got from my dad. He got it in the Philippines during WWII.

The pakka wood knife to the right of that I carried for many years when I wasn't at work.

The dark red handled single blade Victorinox Floral knife above the balisongs was bright red when I got it. That's the one I carried for over 30 years and retired. It's my favorite knife. As mentioned earlier, it's so handy, I bought one for each of my kids, myself, and a spare. $15.00.

The rest are just knives I found in my father and both my grandfather's belongings after they passed.

The top center 4-bladed one is a scouting knife. The emblem is on the reverse side.

The little pearl colored one is from Mt. Vernon.

I've got a Nixon/Agnew knife around somewhere :laughing:

Nice collection, but a few of your blades looks like they could use some Captain Morgan to clean/shine up the blades.

My Puma Bowie Knife cost me $18 in 1968 (about 2 days wages).

And I'm guilty of abusing a lot of my knives in my younger years like the Puma (use to think it was a throwing knife a few times) in the picture below:

I almost always carry a Victorinox Cyber Tool, over the years I’ve tried Leatherman and Gerber pocket tools, but always go back to the Cybertool and it’s McGiver like abilities.

Occasionally, I’ll carry just a knife, and then it’s a small Benchmade automatic.

I've had many knives over the years, and they are scattered throughout the countryside where I stopped for lunch, used them to stick a logger's tape to a tree and left them, or they just fell out of my pocket... what I carry now is a 341 Buck Vantage clip knife... relatively inexpensive, light, takes an edge well and opens with one hand. I also have that same Victorinox which MossRoad mentions, but that one never leaves the house. It belonged to my father, who had a plethora of them over the years, and wouldnt leave home without it.

When I bought those two balisongs for my wife and myself, I think they were about $20. They're Hackman from Finland. Allegedly they were originally sold to the CIA as survival knives during the Vietnam War. Allegedly. Anyhow, when I purchased them in the early 80's they were advertising as camping knives.

When they come up for sale in good condition, like my wife's, they're around $150. Crazy.

Neat. Mine became very sentimental to me, and I lost it. I found it weeks later, and retired it. I was surprised that you can still get them for $15.00. A great, handy, extremely sharp knife. It snaps open and closed very firmly, is not too big or too small. Just right. Keeps it's edge quit a long time. No frills, no fluff. Just handy as heck. :thumbsup:

I really like clip knives, they seem to be much easier to keep and not lose. I keep mine in my lower right Carhart pant pocket. So far my current knife only has come put of the pocket in the washer/dryer when I forgot to take it out. Cleaned up nice.
