Hi folks,

Weæ±*e moving to a new property in March, 3.3 acres, figure somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 acre of grass to mow (rest is house and trees), and I知 in need of a lawn mower. Havenå¥ seen it in person yet, but from pictures it looks mostly flat in front, but the back has quite a bit of a slope down to the water (also has a walkout basement for another idea of the slope). Driveway is about 500 of gravel. Between the hills and the driveway I僧 thinking I probably want an X500 series or better.

A new X570 is $8447 CAD, an X580 is $10,163. I found a 2006 X720 with a 54 deck, 47 snowblower, and MCS for $9500, it has just under 500 hours and appears to be in great shape in pictures. Not sure if that痴 a good price or not. I couldn稚 care less about the MCS, but the snowblower might come in handy in the future (Expecting generally mild winters but the occasional snow storm - house is located near Yarmouth, NS).

Third option might be a used 2017 X570, 320 hrs with a snowblower for $6000. Even has a bit of warranty left.

I like the idea of the 720, and 500 hours seems really low, but it is a 15 year old machine - how long can I expect it to last without it becoming a money pit?

Thanks!

All good machines, but the X7 series is a lifetime machine. 500 hours is not a concern unless it was not maintained. Get the X7!

I've had a X748se for about 10 years. 60" 7 Iron Deck & 54" QA Blower.

748 is AWD. I'd be concerned snow blowing with 2WD without chains

It has been flawless right down to running on original battery

Both dad and I bought x7** models and they were the older diesel ones with the bigger engines. Both had about 350 hours and are great mowers.

Properly ballasted and with chains, and X7 series will move snow well, even if only 2wd.

I had a 425 (would be the predecessor to the x700) for a few years and it did really well with wheel weights plus 200 lbs of suitcase weights on the back, and chains. These machines have differential lock too which is a plus.

Here’s a clip of my wife plowing a foot of packed snow several years ago when we had our 425: John Deere 425 Plowing Deep Snow - YouTube
