Real or Scam... Economic Impact Payment Card?

Mom and I each received Debit Cards in the mail yesterday called EIPCard.

First thought this must be just another scam?

Looking a little more my guess is it could be legit?

I've never received money from the Government and this includes a stimulus check... Mom did get a check

You have to activate to see balance.

Even when eligible for unemployment etc... never taken a dime as a matter of pride I suppose

Anyone else receive one of these debit cards issues by MetaBank?

Goggle this "debit cards issued by MetaBank" and it seems like it's real!

IRS who doesn't have banking account information.

"..The cards are going out to certain eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns but for whom the IRS doesn't have bank account information. The stimulus payment is loaded on the debit card...."

I would still put it off and TRIPLE check it before I activate it!!! (that's just me...)

It looks legit, and this link Money Network Economic Impact Card | Money Network Economic Impact Payments comes directly from the IRS website. Even if you choose not to use it, you are more qualified than the government to direct the money toward somebody who can; whether it's your hospital, nurse's association, church, or ????

I haven't received one of these but this is legit...this method of payment was explained on the national news in the past week.

I'm guessing, just another step toward a "CASHLESS" Government controlled society.

You can't argue, that you can't spend it without an audit trail.

So you pay into the unemployment and because of your pride you wont sign up when its your time? Its the only way you get it back.

Unemployment is insurance, not an entitlement. Your employer, not you pays into it. If he gets a lot of claims it costs him more money, which can and does have an effect on hiring practices and decisions.

Wife and I received debit (EIP) cards the first go around. We didn't want debit cards but found it was easy to transfer the debit card amount directly into our checking account. All done online in just a few minutes. I believe it took a couple days for it to show up in the acct. This time we received a check so just drove to the bank and deposited into acct. at the ATM.
