Well I took down a tree myself, got a big hickory I wanted gone, and my daughter gave me a new Dewalt battery saw for Christmas I wanted to try out so I gave it a go..

Pretty amazing you can do that with a battery saw if you want to. About 50 yrs ago my FIL had a 12" Homlite.
It was very handy trimming stuff around the yard - I liked it. Yours must be even better.

What is the plan for the wood from the hickory tree? I wish I had that problem (from the land of softwood trees).

Anytime a tree dont hit the tractor or a power line its a good day. I cant believe you cut down the tree with that tinker toy battery saw, really, I still cant believe it............

Yeah well, my MS260 helped.. I cant believe you are the only one who asked..

It looks to me like it was already laying down :D

How did you like the saw? It must take a little getting used to.

The little saw works ok, I didn't really take that tree down with it though.. that part of the pic was staged. The little saw is "ok" , lots of power, 5 ah battery does well, but it spins too slow... kind of grinds through the cut instead of cutting.. Will be good for small trimming but thats about it.

I did not do it with that little saw.. just messing with you guys. The saw isn't bad but mostly for little trim jobs, it doesn't spin fast enough.

So the straight part of the trunk I'll slice up into lumber, the rest will be split into heating and cooking wood.

It is the land of softwoods here as well , I have to search for hardwoods.. although this particular one was in my back yard.

Well I took down a tree myself, got a big hickory I wanted gone,

Now I have to go take it apart!
That looks like a bitternut not a shagbark... I've sawn some hickory, mostly shagbark though,

It made some pretty nice lumber,

Hickory does mill hard, but I like the lumber.
