FEL cylinder leak

My dealer filed for a warranty claim but tractor FEL was 8 months out of warranty. This is a defective weld weld that drips when a heavy load is lifted. I guess I will remove cylinder and weld it myself.

Just grind it a little bit to get fresh metal and give it a tack weld of the pin hole.

Looks like it's in the back of the cylinder, so you may be able to just extend the cylinder and weld in place.

Yes I do agree, plan on disconnecting hoses, grinding down a bit and heating up that area with torch to burn off any oil that may be there. Good point.

Why would it blow up?

Im curious too. Like did kubota start using gasoline for hydraulic fluid or something?

That is so obviously a manufacturing defect I'm surprised Kubota won't cover it. You might try contacting kubota yourself and see if they'll help you.

Yeah, you must cook the oil out of the crack first. Then, after welding, do an air test with soapy water to test for leaks. If you don't air test, and you have some more oil leaks, you will have to cook the oil out again. Sometimes, you have to do several air tests and welds. I have done this more than a dozen times. Welding hates oil.

For my air pressure test, I just stick a rubber-tipped air nozzle into the work port with the rod fully extended. I have had pinhole leaks numerous times.
