Left coast prices probably saltier than upstate NY. I would have saved a ton on insurance if I lived one county further north when I was a New Yorker.

Another useless chart based on state averages. We moved from Dutchess County NY to Lincoln County NC in 2017. Our county of origin in NY is lumped with metropolitan NYC for insurance ratings. Lincoln County is lumped with the Greater Charlotte Metro area for its ratings. Comparable auto insurance coverage for us in NC on the exact same vehicles cost within $150 of what we were paying in NY. We might be in the highest rated area in NC but we were far from the lowest in NY.
Most states will have places that vary widely from those averages. The next county to the north of both of our homes would have saved us substantially on home and auto insurance.
