Just out of curiosity what weight oils are you guys using with the turbo seal issues?
Are you using 15w-40 or one of the lighter 5w-40's or even 0w-40.
Cold weather + cold oil + rpm = high oil pressure.

Living in Canada, with temps going down to minus 30, I have been using Rotella T6 0W40.

I think Jim had a good point. Once the turbo starts to leak a bit, the DPF clogs up and the pressure builds up and probably causes more damage to the seals. That seems to be what happened to mine. When they replaced my turbo, the DPF was completely clogged. They cleaned it after the turbo was replaced, and it seems to be fine now.

Mine had the turbo replaced because of a leaking seal and repeatedly ending up in limp mode. It went into limp mode 10 hours after the new turbo was installed. It's back at the dealer. Class action lawsuit anyone? There's obviously a defect.

Hey Todd, What year is your tractor? How many hours are on it? The early models used different injectors and I think injector pump and maybe the turbo.

I'm running Shell Rotella T4 15-40W. I always let it warm up a bit at an idle before moving the throttle up to 1500 to get the hydraulics warmed up before I use the tractor. It has not been cold here this year at all. The other day it was 3 at 6am, but I don't have my tractor. I have never used it when it is really really cold, "NO CAB" I run that same oil in my Ram 2500 6.4 hemi.

Correct me if I am wrong but all oil systems that I know of have a relief valve so that the pressure does not go over a certain point.

I got a call yesterday from the dealer they did a compression test on my motor. The cylinders are below the low when tested dry. With oil in the cylinder it comes up just over the minimum. Looks like the head will be coming off next.

Yes to my knowledge they do, however I have seen too many engines with mechanical gauges pegged out or running very high with cold oil,
even at low rpm.
Had one older 560 IH that would be over 80# with 15w-40 switched to Rotella T6 5w-40 and an instant 45-50PSI on startup but no longer pegging the gauge.
I seem to recall a poster on here, I think with an LS that had to go with the 5w-40 because of turbo issues.

To bad to hear about low compression on top of everything.

New Holland boomer now recommends 0w40 full sun and has new pcm strategy to limit roms until oil is warm to prevent turbo failures.
