I found the Lawrence Welk show to be oddly soothing. When they do the close up shots of the attractive female singers, I get a little lost in thought.

Speaking of good movies, anyone remember "The Postman Always Rings Twice"?

That was before my time, but I saw it for the first time somewhat recently. Good movie! Maybe this is a sign of early old age, but I remember the plot, but I already forget exactly how it ends.

I initially had that movie switched in my head with "Gaslight," which I also saw in recent years for the first time. I like seeing a classic movie that shows me a popular reference for which I never knew the origin. I had heard of "gaslighting" someone, but I didn't know the reference.

After watching "A Streetcar Named Desire," I finally understand why people sometimes scream, "Stellllaaaaa!"

I saw "Dirty Harry" decades ago, but well after its release, and I was surprised by the number of quotes that were already familiar to me by popular reference.
