Using a plow for 12" of snow is never an issue. Moving the third 12" snowfall, having had freeze/thaw cycles is another matter entirely.

Keeping it winged back between snowfalls is a way to handle that.

Plowing snow is a lot more fun than blowing, but for the most part, I like blowing it, just so I don't have to deal with it again. Also does a nicer job, if that means much. Also doesn't drift in as bad with no high windrows.

Let's see if this works. Here's a quick clip from today's maiden voyage. This pass is on untouched snow, 12" deep. I slow up a bit because I thought I was going to hit my stone wall and then she picks right back up. At this point, the snow wasn't light and fluffy. A bit on the heavier side, but not bad. You can see the clumping afterwards. In short, it's definitely faster than the bucket since you don't have to dump and the skids on most frozen terrain make the process quick and painless.

Looks good. I like to add these to my plows, the snow really slides off nicely.

I can blow my way driveway faster than I could plow it with a truck. Screw plows. Haha.

Thanks for the tip! The plow is surely under-going some kind of makeover in the spring. Not sure what I want to do but I may do an ode to my best friends wife who passed of breast c_ _ _ _ _.

Yah, right.. I moved from a blower to this blade.. and found plowing the drive and road was considerably faster (and less melting snow in the shed).

We gravitate to what we like.. and the tractor with blade is handy.

This might be a dumb question but I saw a Skid Steer hydraulic powered SSQA snow plow for sale. What would I need to hook that up to my tractor?

Are the hook ups the same or different? Never seen a skid steer hook up and have no experience with it.

I don’t have a 3rd function on the tractor yet. Not sure if I would invest a lot in one, being the skid steer plow has two cylinders I assume I need two valves? Wouldn’t be as simple as running a few hoses from the rear remote.

You're most likely looking at a hydro issue. Most tractors do not have the numbers to run hydraulic units meant for skid steers.

I have a power angle plow on my tractor and it works fine. It would be different if I tried to mount a hydraulic snow blower, post hole drill or hydraulic powered bush hog. SS's do generally have much more hydraulic flow to RUN things. The small amount of fluid it takes to swing a plow won't tax the tractor.

My blade works on the factory third function and there are two hoses that connect the plow to the tractor. When swinging in one direction, the fluid is pushed into one cylinder and that cylinder shoves the fluid out of the other cylinder and back to the tractor.
