How’s Eddie?

My wife got her first Moderna shot a couple weeks ago and was fine other than a sore arm and a red splotch on her arm. She works for our county and got in the same group with the first responders.

I registered with the Dept of Health for a shot. I don't particularly feel any urgency, but due to age and a couple minor medical issues I am in the next group. I feel like there are surely people that need it a lot more than me.

I need to correct my previous comments by adding that CVS, Walmart and a few other Pharmacy type places are also providing the vaccine here, but they are very limited in how much vaccine they get and when you can get the shots. What my wife is dealing with is the large scale operation where they are doing hundreds of people in a day compared to dozens.

Re: How痴 Eddie?

Well I'm 82 and the way everybody is demanding priority (sports teams, Leo's, truck drivers, bus drivers, politicians etc it'll be another year for sure for me.
Heck now some are even arguing as to who is more 'disposable'.

Now as to who can inject?
While I'm not an EMT or MD it seems that an alcohol wipe and jab is not all that hard to do but then the medical profession seems adamant of protecting their turf.

(In the past I did have first aid training plus I was a medical sales rep for a few years so not totally ignorantly medically speaking.) .

Over age 75 shots seem to be going rather quickly now here in Massachusetts.
I got my 1st Moderna shot 15 days ago, and my second is scheduled for March 1st.
There is a statewide listing of daily available shots, and there are several thousand available each day at the Foxboro (Patriots) football stadium (for over age 75).

Getting shot or not getting shot?
My wife is 74 and I am 77. I have an artificial heart valve and any medical procedure involving the potential of blood contamination requires a heavy proactive dose of a broad spectrum antibiotic.
In as much as i have not found any information about potential complications regarding artificial aortic heart valves and the vaccine we are electing not to jump on the COVID vaccine band wagon.
I am curious to know if there are any TBN members out there with aftermarket body parts who have taken the vaccine and what if any negative issues were encountered post the almighty arm poke.

Re: How痴 Eddie?

Because of one of my careers, I will be in a position to get the vaccine soon but I am on the fence about it.
  • My age is in the sorta, might be risky cohort, but I am in great shape and no underlying health issues.
  • I think I had, or was exposed, to the virus a year ago this month. If I had the virus, why get the shot?
  • I have been taking vitamin D every day for years. This really minimizes a chances of getting the virus, and almost gives one a zero chance of a serious illness, much less death. More on this in a bit.
  • The vaccines are a new method, they have been rushed into service, rightfully so, but are there long term risks?

Given the above, Take the Shot Or Not Take the Shot Is the Question. Don't really know what I will do but certainly will wait due to the shortage of the jab. There are far more people needing it than me.

I have mentioned Dr. Campbell before, I THINK in this discussion, anyway I will post a link to him and people can watch his videos. He is a UK doctor who has been posting info about the virus. He has had quite a few videos discussing research regarding the virus and vitamin D. The video below talks about a study that showed a 34% reduction in getting the virus for people who are habitually taking a vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D does a bunch of things that fight against respiratory illnesses and this had been know for quite some time. Watching one of his earlier videos discussing vitamin D fights off respiratory illnesses and comparing to the virus is an eye opener. Many people, if not most people, in the industrial world are going to have vitamin D deficiency. I DID at one time even though I thought I was getting enough sun exposure and was eating foods high in vitamin D. My blood work was a 17 and should have been 30 or above. Having a vitamin D level under 30, and getting the virus ,means you are going to have a rough time and high chance of dying.

Watch Dr. Campbell's videos and decide for yourself.

Later,
Dan

My vitamin D level is 47.6, well above the minimum recommended of 30.
I had Moderna shot #1 two weeks ago, and will have shot# 2 in 15 days.
Dr. Campbell is entitled to his opinion, but I am not willing to bet that a vitamin D level of 47.6 will keep me safe.
I am 80 years old, and am very happy to get the vaccine!
