Good morning!!!!

30 and snow/sleet and freezing rain since about 3am. Icicles starting to grow. Our electric coop finally got the last outage fixed yesterday from Saturday's ice storm. A big thanks to the South Carolina coop that sent a fleet of bucket trucks and telephone pole trailers up here.

Birds were in a frenzy when I went out to feed them this morning...they know what's in store. Saw skunk by the porch about 3am but didn't go out for it since it had started raining.

Ron, real nice looking Mule. I don't know anything about them, but always heard good things about Kawasaki.

Rip, that's a lot of t-posts.

Phil, I hope you reflux gets better.

Storm prep yesterday: TSC got a refill of their LP, so took a bottle up there..."bottle out of date." I never knew they couldn't refill a bottle that was stamped over 5 years ago...he showed me my date, and the date it had been reinspected and restamped, both too long ago...so the suggestion is to exchange it. I have some bottles I've bought new/empty and filled, and a couple that were exchanges used for the grill before I bought the generator. I went ahead and bought a new one while there so I could get it filled. Also, filled up the 5 gallon gas jug and truck tank...boy, has the gas price spiked over the last month. Also ground some coffee to store in case of an outage...now is when I need a grinder like yours, Don. Wife made a pot of chili to heat on the woodstove.

Ted, hope you're getting around without too much pain.

The propane exchange at Walmart is hard to beat. They don't care if your exchange tank is out of date. I paid $14.82 per bottle last week. Paid at cashier, walked outside, met associate at the bottle rack, swapped bottles, gone.

LOL.

I got one of the first ones in my area. My issues to date are operator errors only. I am still running the original tires on three of four. We are on our second tail gate. Don't dump with the tow hitch attached. LOL. My bed is starting to age, has a few rust holes in it. Everything else is pretty darn good.

Pretty good for working it like a government mule. The thing has paid for itself over and over and over. LOL.

Mine came to me with a piece of 10 gauge tred plate welded into the bottom of the bed, and sheet metal patches welded into the sides. Kind of a crappy job, so I added more patches and weld metal to clean it up, then used some cheap-o Harbor Freight bed liner that's mostly worn off now.

Oh, and I had to replace the u-joints in the rear axles. If I have to do that job again, I'd pay the extra money to get complete axles. It was something of a PITA to get the trunnions out and back in and not bend the arms of the u-joints. And come to think of it, I had to replace a ball bearing on the propeller shaft that goes up to the front diff. But by now the hour meter is closing in on 4000, so some stuff is starting to wear out. Kubota hasn't had any trouble supplying spare parts, or charging an arm and a leg for them, either.

Good morning all, 24 going up to 31 and heavy snow, will most likely get the 6" forecasted.

I remember 2 years ago when NJ messed up during a big snow storm. Took me an extra hour to get home. was lucky, some people and extra 4 hours.
The next 2 months, NJ salted/sanded the roads during every weather event, even when it was upper 40's and light rain!
They spent millions prepping roads for 45 to 55 degree days. That person is still in charge of the road crews today-wonder how much her buddies made on that one.

Will go out later when snow lightens up to plow. looks nice and fluffy.

$ presentation to my boss and his peer today. we'll see if they approve or not.

Ron-nice SxS - have fun!
DFTodd - good work getting your neighbor out of a tough spot and thinking about alternate salt sources.
Phil - for the reflux at night, try sleeping with your head more elevated-worked for me YMMV
TXDOn - glad to hear no more rolling blackouts- my TX coworkers were happy yesterday with half days of power to fill tubs etc.

I switched about 7 years ago to a gorilla dump cart with 4 wheels. My Wheelbarrow now just sits in the garage unused. I use the Gorilla almost daily.

Stay safe and be well. LS how is the knee ?

The Kubota is a nice machine just very little suspension unless they have improved that turned me off

Rick the front windshield that you describe does have the levers just like rear glass

I had a 2020 XP 1000 dealer "loaner" with the Polaris Glass fixed windshield and back glass recently and should have paid more attention to the windshield but .. I never even unloaded it off my trailer. Duh!

Thanks, Rick. Home Depot has an automated bottle exchange machine I used to use before I got the tank with a wet tap. Nothing but problems at HD. A door on the cage is supposed to pop open so you can swap out your bottle, but it would either open on an empty spot or one with an empty bottle in it. And they charged $25 for a refill. I'll give Walmart a go next time I see an expired bottle, or one that gets rusty from being outside too long.

I was thinking you would say that. That would be an expensive bumper. But during the Fall and the Spring you do not want to be taking the windshield on and off every day. Make sure you can get some flip on ventilation. (you know those 50˚ mornings and 80˚ afternoons . . )

Yep. Totally agree.

I like the concept of this one, from Seizmik, that folds down on itself .. instead of folding over the hood.

Windshield Versa-Fold (Hard Poly) – Polaris Full Size Pro-Fit Ranger – Seizmik

Their CS rep told me to mark up 16" from the bottom of the windshield opening on each side .. the stretch tape across the opening to simulate where the hinge would be, in your line of sight.

Good morning! -5F, no snow last nite. (First time in several days!) Dump run plus a few groceries today, preparing for SWMBO to come home Saturday (from Calgary, where she has been since January 27). Time to clean the place up!

Good luck to all in Texas, and glad to hear the temp is going up. I am hoping that the power infrastructure will be finally "winterized", given that it already is in other places (like the Great White North up here!) Scary stuff that the SHTF for so many millions!

More snow coming Friday, but not much. Hope the SIL will be OK getting to the airport to fly out to Calgary. (Has to drive for an hour in the dark and snow, from Barrie to Toronto, for a flight that leaves at 6:30 A.M..)

Have a good day, fellow TBNers!:)

Put a bird feeder up for my son to watch and learn about birds. I find myself starring out the window every morning now with my coffee watching the various species interact.

I like the windshield that came on my Mule. It flips up to allow air into cab. This the manufacture the one my Mule. I tried it yesterday. The air coming in was brutal cold. They do not make one for Polaris. Found out most of clouding of windshield is mostly dust. Need some warm weather to wash it off.
