Cat 6 Wiring and Electrical Wiring

150ft is no problem, like others have said keep it under 300ft
Dig a small trench and put it in there. Conduit or not, either way, it will be fine

Ive had a 150ft run of cat5e buried directly in the ground (no conduit) from my house to the garage forever... only had one issue since 1 only buried it 4-5 under the surface... Someone that was helping us with some yard work picked the wrong spot to stab his shovel into the ground when he was done working. He could have picked any other spot, lol. So I re-ran a new cat5e again, still no conduit, and its been fine ever since.

In hindsight, anything to protect the ethernet cable from shovels or things of that nature would be ideal but not necessarily needed
Maybe the 3rd time I run the cable I might take the extra time to install some conduit (pvc, metal, anything)

Rated for direct bury or just plain everyday CAT5? I suspect we overthink many such things.

I used to use direct burial and in some places it works just fine. Neighbor did direct burial and the gophers cut it so he placed it in conduit.

And of course there are ants that get into some of the electrical stuff (mostly connectors from my experience)

Plain everyday cat5e
I prefer the “cables to go” brand, model 56011 (1000ft) for cat5e or model 56018 (1000ft) for cat6
It’s pretty good quality cable for the money, zero complaints

I've heard good thing about them. I've gotten a bit of stuff from fs.com too.

Just make sure you get the correct ends for crimping. Riser is typically solid copper.

I bought mine from Platt Electric, a PNW regional jobber. They will cut cable to length.

Dryer fabric softener sheets will keep ants out of an enclosure. Ants are a common problem in rural installations.
