Hey All,
I have a 2018 3515R. I just went ahead and did a DPF delete (replaced the DPF with a muffler). Everything went fine except I notice blue smoke from my exhaust now. See pic of my new exhaust setup and smoke at 2500 RPMs. More details below.
At startup some smoke but clears up for the most part.
- Idle to about 1500 rpms not much smoke
- 1500 - 2000 bearable but start to notice the blue smoke
- mid 2000s it starts to pick up.
- at 2500 constant billows of bluish smoke
I can't understand how an engine this new could have bad rings or seals, but i'm very concerned at this point.
- Changed the oil at 50 hrs with 5w40 rotella synthetic
- Machine currently has 70 hours on it.
- Have run the tractor approximately 2 hours since the exhaust mod
- Air filter looks good.
- Oil level looks good and oil appears normal.
- Air filter looks good.
- I read online that the crankcase breather valve (PCV) could be stuck and sucking oil from valve cover to intake. Pulled the breather hose, had a little oil in it but not any visibly in the intake(see pic). To confirm i removed the hose completely, plugged the intake port and vented the valve cover to atmosphere. Ran for about an hour and no change. Put hose back on. I assume that rules it out?
- Fuel is pretty fresh. The water indicator ring is not floating so think fuel is good. I always put stabil and a splash of seafoam in my fuel to keep it fresh.
I have the stock dpf setup so i can put it back on in case there is a major issue and i need to take it in for warranty repair. I believe its 7 year on the branson, right? My main concern right now is i believe its burining oil but how do i explain that to the dealer when with the DPF on you can't see blue smoke? I'm hoping its nothing major and can fix myself. I know a decent amount about gas engines but new to diesels. My next thought is to try and test compression on the cylinders but have never removed glow plugs or messed with diesels and am apprehensive about it. At what point have i fiddled with too much that dealer doesn't want to honor warranty.
I would appreciate any help you all can provide.
