Our "original" 3.

View attachment 690944

The yellow lab my wife owned when I met her. The beagle mix I found as a pup at a gas station on a hot August day covered in ticks. The aussie mix we "found" together at our vets as someone came in claiming to find her and couldn't keep her. Turns out the girl lied, just kept the dog chained outside 24/7 and couldn't stand her barking. Imagine that with that kind of breed personality.

Those three dogs actually helped us train a lot of dogs over a decade that came through our home.

I can still get misty thinking about each drive to the vet for their last visit. All 3 are in our garden with a host of other ashes.
I've said this before; you (and your wife) truly are dog's best friend.

Sigarms--to take in a foster dog is one the most noble of things to do.

The best dogs we ever had were rescue dogs that someone else didn't want. A brother and a sister that seemed to thank us every day for their adoption. One turned out to be world class kind of bird dog and changed our lives forever.

Just remember...

Why Dogs Are Better Than Women

Dogs don’t cry.

Dogs love it when your friends come over.

Dogs don’t care if you use their shampoo.

Dogs think you sing great.

A dog’s time in the bathroom is confined to
a quick drink.

Dogs don’t expect you to call when you are
running late.

The later you are, the more excited dogs are
to see you.

Dogs will forgive you for playing with other
dogs.

Dogs don’t notice if you call them by another
dog’s name.

Dogs are excited by rough play.

Dogs don’t mind if you give their offspring away.

Dogs understand that flatulence is funny.

Dogs love red meat.

Dogs can appreciate excessive body hair.

Anyone can get a good looking dog.

If a dog is gorgeous, other dogs don’t hate it.

Dogs don’t shop.

Dogs like it when you leave a lot of things
on the floor.

A dog’s disposition stays the same all month
long.

Dogs never need to examine the relationship.

Dogs love long car trips.

Dogs understand that instincts are better than
asking for directions.

When a dog gets old and starts to snap at you
incessantly, you can shoot it.

Dogs like beer.

Dogs don’t hate their bodies.

No dog ever put on 100 pounds after reaching
adulthood.

Dogs never criticize.

Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice
to get your point across.

Dogs never expect gifts.

Dogs don’t worry about germs.

Dogs don’t want to know about every other dog
you ever had.

Dogs like to do their snooping outside as
opposed to in your wallet, desk and the
back of your sock drawer.

Dogs don’t let magazine articles guide their lives.

Dogs would rather have you buy them a hamburger
dinner than a lobster one.

You never have to wait for a dog. They’re ready
to go 24 hours a day.

Dogs have no use for flowers, cards, or jewelry.

Dogs don’t borrow your shirts.

Dogs never want foot rubs.
man oh man that cracked me up!

Today makes 1 month ago i found sonny outside, almost starved and freezing. It's hard to think about it but....

After 1 month, she's the boss. She's smarter than both the other dog and me combined, which ain't saying much..

I'm missing many gloves, hats, socks and the garbage gets spread around regularly.

My other dog rufus loves her, i have not seen him this active in many years.

It takes a lot to make me laugh anymore but, at least 1 time a day she makes me laugh.

Here she and her brother are wrestling....which is fine except they do it right on top of me! 120 lbs of canine squirming around.

She's a keeper!

And good on ya re fostering...anything.

The credit goes to my wife. Better person (not a prick by any means), better Christian and smarter than myself. I would have been still been playing my outdoor activities If I never got married LOL

I will say that there were some great times finding a loving home and making friends with people who became "forever homes" for unwanted animals.

However, just an observation, after spending so much time in an organization helping animals, seems the animals can get along better together than people.

You did it yourself, you just found a permanent home at your place ;)

I was actually kind of dumbfounded when I found out that when you adopt a child who is basically a ward of the state, you get paid monthly by the state until the child reaches adult hood.

There is some great truth in that you don't really save the dog, but the dog saves you IMO.

Besides that, you can put a training collar on a dog and no one minds, but put one on a kid, and people freak out.

I'm joking of course about the collar comment on kids, but I'd be lying if the thought never crossed my mind 😁

I've always said take your dog and wife, and lock them in the car trunk for a day.

Open the trunk and see who's glad to see you.
I thought this was really funny, but my wife didn't.

She got so mad, I finally had to put her back in the trunk. :(
