I'm almost 56 and I can see my weekly full court basketball games will be coming to an end before I hit 60.
Well you did better than I... made it to 45. We used to play an hour a couple times a week at the rec club on a long lunch. Our company had a great gym onsite. Miss those days but my lower back could not take the pounding anymore.

I made it to 46. Used to play in the church gym on Sunday nights until I blew my meniscus.

I'm gonna be 49 this year, and I got a few lingering aches here and there I picked up over time, but mostly ok. I think the key is, you should definitely exercise, but don't be crazy about it.

You should if that's what you want to do. I quit doing extreme bike races at age 56. There were guys older than me who were racing well. I was faster than I'd been at 40. So I could have kept going. I quit because they stopped running my favorite races. Not enough people want to do races up big mountains any more to make it worth holding them. Also I was getting burned out after 15 years of 15-20 hours a week plus gym time. That took up all the free time I had and then some. But I was really fit!

Keep moving. Stupid as it sounds, i try not to not allow myself to sit, even if i'm bored. That's not my default position after i finish something.

i force myself to walk around until i find something else to do.

Just gettin off the couch away from the tube is 90% of the battle. Force yourself to leave the tv off, eventually you will find something to keep you moving.

Problem there is....can you entertain yourself?

The problem with my recreation is most of the players are between 25-40 yo. and we play between 6 to 7 game (1st to 15 wins) There are about 4 of us that are 55 and older. One guy is 61 and can light it up at the 3 pt line.
I also need to lose weight.

Even close to the city it’s not easy to find indoor pools. The Y is the only indoor pool around and there are not many Y’s.
