Does anyone know the specs for the tool to unscrew the glass bowl on the newer style fuel filters? I managed to cobble up something to remove it last time but I need a real tool.

I have always used a big screwdriver and a hammer. Just tap on the nut in the direction to unscrew to loosen then unscrew by hand.

^ what he said, or I also use my oil filter strap wrench. Love that thing works anywhere.

On this filter there's a clear plastic bowl that screws into the body which holds the filter in. The bowl has flutes on the side like an oil filter. But there's no place that a screwdriver could get a purchase.

They might have been a 25 series part. I'll try measuring the distance across the flats and counting them. Maybe there's an oil filter wrench that will work. Failing that I'll ask the dealer what they recommend, or try a rubber strap wrench. I think I used a steel strap type wrench last time but I don't want to damage the plastic.

Eric could you post a picture of what it looks like? Maybe that would clear things up some for us.

Ericm979 has not responded to Ford850's query, but if the Branson 3725H has the same filter as the 3015h, the tool would likely be some sort of box or ring wrench. I would suspect either Branson or the manufacturer of the filter has a "Special Tool No. XYZ" for the application. There may be a water filter wrench that would fit, but finding it would be as time consuming as patient filing of a piece of aluminum or steel to make one yourself. Perhaps a local vocational school with a CNC guided plasma cutter or even a 3-D printer with appropriate plastic medium could fabricate one.

For those that have not seen a water filter wrench:

The bowl is about 4" across. I've not seen slip joint pliers that big. They'd also mar the plastic. I said glass in the title but on thinking about it, I'm pretty sure it's plastic.

It looks like the guy in the video had a rubber strap wrench there behind the filter unit, so that's probably a good way to do it. I already have about 10 different oil filter wrenches or tools, what's another one?
