YM2000A

The A-model is a refresh upgrade.

Did the YM240 go red at this time.
YM240 never went to red paint so far as I know. The Donaldson-type air filter external on the left was one year, 1981, final year of YM240, and that's the only upgrade to series 2 (headlights in hood) that I know of.

We are on a roll. Here is the A-A-model. This is the 1/2-way point.

It gets tricky finding this model. Search engines don't like A-A in the search line.

And the proof of A-A on the driver left fender has this. (in a weird way).

And what's the engine ID plate show?

YM2000B

The B-Model. No the engine is not a B nor a B-B. This model tends to be more of the dressed up type. The eyes wear a mask like Zoro. The engine has cover panels complete on each side.

A happy owner in Japan.

The model has an option for the Yanmar cab canopy.

Unlike the other YM2000- machines, the B-Model has a nice dash of controls.

YM2000BD The parts manual also lists a BZ. It does show the differences of parts. I've not found any image on the web.

That last Yanmar has the Yanmar RS1400 rototiller, the tiller intended for YM2000. The tiller decal explicitly names YM2000 and shows how to attach it.

Note the special 2-piece top link. There's a 'bridge' (rusty in the photo) that goes most of the way back to the tiller. Then a 6 inch 'top link' from the bridge to the tiller. This short link is vertical in the photo, and will be closer to horizontal when the tiller is lowered. This top link geometry makes the tiller rotate away from hitting the tires as it's raised.

The tiller's trailing wheels are missing in the photos but are shown in the final picture, the Yanmar brochure.

I like the trailing wheels. My YM240 (YM2000) has the torque to run the tiller without them, but the YM186D that I actually use for tilling needs the wheels for depth control, to avoid stalling when it gets to dry sod, or in particular, when it arrives at a step-up from ground that had been tilled at right angles.

YMG1800 - YMG2000

Are we there yet? Kids ask that in the car on a really long trip. In this case, the reply is ALMOST.

The new kids in town and the offshoot of the YM2000's is the YMG. What's with the G? G could mean the next generation look or frame or engine sizes going forward. Much of the YMG will be seen on machine going higher in model numbers.

The YMG1800 and YMG2000 break the traditional mold of keeping with the 2-cly engines. The 3T80 engine series is used. Was this to work out any bugs prior to John Deere accepting the very reliable JD850 into it's fold of compact tractors? And because the plant in Japan would be making both Yanmar and John Deere machines on the SAME assembly line?

The dash of the YM2000B is retained. Just a stronger engine is added.

I'm a big fan for safety with tractors. ROPS are just the smartest thing to have on a machine. Next, PTO shields too. I've had the front wheels off the ground by 2 feet with a post hole auger and the machine has ROPS. Didn't flip, but they did come in handy to help climb out of the open cab. In this YMG1800 incident in the USA, I can really understand why it's important to have certified ROPS on our YM gray market machines and NOT to take them off on the Yanmar US YM machines.

The owner was really lucky and wasn't flipped rearward onto the mower. The bailed out. The slope doesn't look that bad right? But the thick brush and the mower just got tied up.

Any UTDA dealer has the ROPS and so does Hoye Tractor Supply.

I've seen this pic. numerous of times. SMDH on it? I believe the mower was lifted. But in this case I'm not sure I would want ROP's. I'm bailing out the back but a side roll over is a major difference when it comes to the type of roll over to have ROP's.

A ROPs is more than just the roll bar. It also includes a locking seatbelt. This way, should the machine flip you can still run the controls to shut the machine down and then exit safely. Bailing is like Russian Roulette, you take your chances of getting away freely or the entire machine comes down on you in a worse way. When I lived in TN, the next state north of the line is KY. A family lost their dad who bailed and the rear wheel caught him. 20 mins later he was ground to sausage like a meat grinder till the fuel ran out. His son had found him.

Amazing how the YM2000 and all of it's types took up a good chunk here. I'll be pressing forward in a day or two with the next models. A few more surprises yet to be revealed. ;)

I'm from WV. org. and lived on the Oh. river in Cinn. All to familiar and Had a man in WV. get killed on a side roll over. Rop. on his head and Broke his neck when it rolled sideways. Seat belt on!! couldn't get off they say. I'm all flat and a lot of Trees is why I never put them on the Org. Ym2000 which is my lawn mower. They would stay down. Of course Steve Who was UTDA then where I bought it from offered them but the price was Crazy high. Amost 1/4 of the cost I paid of the tractor.
Being from Cinn. And know all to well about the Yanmar rollover . My Aunt worked for the Fed. Us. Gov. in the courthouse and my father for Ford. Dealer Rep.. Back then Tractors was in the Dealers so he had to pay attn. to what was happening and had a inside source. Yes Japan is big on marriage to a man and a women like in the Pic.. It was stated that there was no sexual relation between the kids mother and Wayne. Wasn't inside doing the Dirty when the kid was pulling fence posts with the Tractor. He's "gay". True and why Yanmar settled and left the US. market. My mother worked for the county and with the kids mother!!Everyone new it County Bus Drivers. It came up and was told Yrs. ago why when she found Steve's dealership across from the Atl. speedway on a rain delay which is were the ASIS. YM2000 and a referb YM2500 for our church came from.

YM2001

The next few models follow in the trends of the YMG200B. There are many cues carried over.

There are few good images of a YM2001 on the web. In the Yanmar Tractor Owner Group, a member restored their machine.
