I didn’t think it was any secret that banks don’t want you in their lobby or even the drive thru. It cost them money to maintain those branches. That’s why they push apps, online services, direct deposit, ATM’s, debit cards, etc. It takes the burden of service out of their hands and puts it on us and electronic wizardry.

My family is from Germany, and I have lived in Europe.
I think I could do that too, though the total Socialism would be tough to swallow.
It’s different for sure... pluses and minuses.

The safety net is pretty extensive but it also limits aspirations in my opinion with lots of barriers to being self employed...

Having a Rainey Day fund or lack of vacation or losing your home to taxes are rare.

The biggest differences that I noticed right off is the lowly apprentice had 42 days off with pay paid out at 14 payments over 12 months... extra month vacation month and extra month Christmas.

The other is getting use to shop hours... no running to Home Depot at 9 pm on a weekend or church holiday...

And your point is what?
I see I replied to the wrong post. Just a little state rivalry humor. I intended to reply to this but now I see it wasn't you who posted it, and your 'socialist state' reference meant overseas, not here. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Florida is functioning normally.......including banks!
We sure hope the California refugees stop at Texas.

Ok, but I did not make a ‘socialist state‘ reference......not lately, anyway. LOL (Oh, that, socialist state reference....)

You may be locked into some kind or kinds of electronic solutions going forward ur, be it a bank or 3'rd party offering. About the only thing I can suggest is your bank should offer a PC based solution for scanning cheques; people routinely do that with smart phones (just send a pic), so I can't see a technical barrier to doing that with a PC + digital camera.
I'm about 10,000% against using any kind of portable gadget for banking or financial transactions. If you have all that stuff on your gizmo and lose it in a public place, whoever finds it has all your stuff. It should be illegal to use one.

Two of the banks I've used accept deposits from a PC by scanning images of the check. The one I just shut down refused to do so ... only by a gadget.

And many charge you for the privilege of cashing a check, even their own (why would anyone use BoA?), not to mention the ones that charge you for using a teller for any purpose at all.

Yeah, no. Not many common criminals have the knowledge to open a found locked phone without destroying the data. Yes, they can wipe it out and have a factory reset phone, but no, most cannot get to any of your data if you have it set up properly. So that's not really a valid concern anymore if you take the simple steps to SECURE IT BEFORE YOU LOSE IT!

You don't use your local grocery store as a personal refrigerator. You shouldn't use your local bank as a personal piggy bank. It's just that simple. You're wanting free services for no gain for them. Heck, you don't even want them to be able to cover their costs.

Life is a gamble, no matter what you do. It is far riskier to carry a wallet with cash and credit cards that allow for instant fraud use in case someone gets it than to use a phone to do banking. If someone takes it they would have to know the PIN to unlock the phone and the password for my banking app, 2 completely separate items. The data is not stored on my phone. The account numbers do not show up on the app, only my nickname for the accounts.
