One other thing. A goal will be to own a tiller some day. I see in the manual that a 42" is recommended, and the Land Pride unit is 42". Other than that it looks like 42s are hard to find. I see many options in 48".
A brief Google also shows me several instances of people who have a 48 with the 1880 and are happy. I'm tempted to just get one of those when cash allows. Stick to the manual or not? On my property my soil is mostly sand. I doubt I'd have trouble running most any tiller here. However, who knows what buddy may want some help at his or her house some day.

. My dad has a nice Miller MIG welder, but all this sort of blossomed because I've gotten tired of borrowing, so that's going backwards again (but I don't mean to say that I'm not thankful for the generosity of my dad and friends who've helped me out here and there!).
