Yes!

Mid 70's, I found a 'short bus' 1940's Power Wagon with minimal owner-built conversion for camping. The price was reasonable, just an old guy who wanted to pass it along to someone who would enjoy it. I was VERY tempted.

After agonizing over it for days, I passed. We lived within two hours of the high Serras with endless back country primitive camping opportunities. But driving the Power Wagon up there would have added too many hours on the road, to the weekend adventures we started nearly every Friday evening. I eventually sold my Ford pickup and got a Wagoneer instead. That was a more realistic match to what we actually needed, highway competence in addition to offroad.

Couple of pictures: Power Wagon Short Bus, found online. And our typical use. I wish I still had the 4-speed Wagoneer. It got severely T-boned by a drunk while parked. I was heartbroken.

For the most difficult school bus routes... pretty cool. (y)

Might be the oddball here, BUT,
To relive my youthful years my choice would be a mint MG TD or TF.

I did come close 5 years ago by buying a Toyota MR2, nice mint all original car from Florida.
Very collectable but since I'd barely drove it in the last year I sold it last May with minimal depreciation, and that was in height of Covid!

Our neighbors 2 houses over when I was a kid had an MGB GT and a Jag. Pretty cool cars for a couple college professors. That Jag, especially, sounded great. That was the wife's car. She kept it for the rest of her life. I moved out in the mid-80's and she passed away about 5 years ago. They mentioned her love for her husband and her Jaguar. She'd kept it all those years.

My Grandfather had a Jag Mk VII I think it was with the fold down tray tables in the back and the silver tissue holder.
He had to get rid of it before it bankrupted him in repairs.

I think my neighbor's was a mid-late 60's E-Type like this, only light green.

Beautiful cars, but yep. A friend had a Jaguar stranded in his shop for many months before he finally located the engine parts he needed from a shop in rural Australia.

My cousin drove a Jaguar roadster that belonged to her boyfriend. An XK140 I think. We went down from Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows to Lee Vining to buy gas. Then raced, rally style, back up Tioga Pass (photo), 3,000 ft climb in a few miles to 9,900 ft at the park entrance. She could easily outcorner me but at that altitude my two hundred dollar junker 53 Ford - the last Flathead - could make up the difference at every straight between the curves. "There's no substitute for cubic inches". Great times!

I grew up with cars. I loved them and still do. My very first new car purchase ever was a 1969 Roadrunner I bought at the PX in Pleiku, RVN. Had to take a chopper to get there.

If you would have asked this question 10 or even 5 years ago, I'd be on it like a duck on June Bug.

But anymore, when you have BONE STOCK Mustang GT's that will turn high 11's? (people, that's moving) You can cruise down the Highway at 85 MPH with the A/C on, listening to a 10 speaker Bang & Olafsen stereo that came from the factory in it, 22'' wheels, 205 MPH rated tires....?

Why in the HECK would I want an old raggedy, loud, smelly dinosaur that rattles like a Beeyatch, rides like a haywagon, gets 10 MPG downhill and breaks down every five minutes? And then you can't get parts for it.

Been there, done that, sold the T-Shirt. Besides that, I HATE the chevy lawnchair crowd. If I'm gonna own a 'nice' car, I'm gonna drive it. Otherwise, I'm not interested. It would be like being married to a world-class beauty that you can't touch. What's the point?

Been wanting to get that out of my system for a while now o_O

There's plenty of truth to that.
