did something similar to chains but where lift links need to move freely (or else mower won't lower all the way/float) need those disconnected from arms.

lift arms links rear.jpg

tow bar attached to stabilize width and just make it so I don't have to grab it elsewhere when needed.
lift arms ratchet strapped to a cross bar on the rops.
lift links set inside lift arms and bungee cord each to spot on tow bar.
as lift goes up and down the links move in and out in relation to the bungee cords and do not get interfered with at all and I have full 3pt movement.
looks ugly but I can swap back and forth between this and normal 3pt in about a minute.

Yes there is issue of mid mount lift system connected to 3PH arms.... It needs to be addressed...

I agree. The MM can be locket in the up position. Not something I can't live without but ut would be nice if there was as similar locking mechanism for the 3PH arms that didn't involve strapping or chaining them in place.

I must say what I did works well, really only odd looking thing (compared to normal hitch on tractor look) is the 2 ratchet straps.
deck has full travel no interference from lift links on rear and nothing binding on rear.

I just leave mine hang. If you lower your mower all the way, then lift up on the 3 point lever, the hitch travels quite a way before the mower starts to move.

That's what I did last year but my lawn is old hay field with many undulations and grass height ranged from just under 2 inches to almost 4.
Running float mode and letting gage wheels work gives even just under 2 inch cut which I prefer.
Mowed about 2 acres today with setup I did and worked very well.
