LS MT240e
Hi all! I have been browsing the forum for awhile and trying to learn. While I get the basics, I am still a little lost as to how to achieve what I am looking for. I have the LS MT240e tractor that currently does not have any rear hydraulic hookups so I would like to add my own. I have contacted my dealer and the LS kit is backordered and has been for months so I am wondering what other options I have. I have looked at the summit hydraulics kits, but they all seem to say I need a power beyond kit installed already?

I attached some pictures to hopefully help explain my setup. The red circle is the power beyond from my FEL valve. The other is the schematic of the HST system on the tractor. I would really appreciate any advice as to 3rd party options for adding a rear control valve to my tractor. Thanks all for the help!

Nate

While I do not know your tractor there are some basics in this situation.

Your red circle is around a plug not a place for a hose to connect to.

Most importantly, your loader valve has 6 hoses connected to it. P, B1, A1, A2, B2, & T.

That makes a total of 6 hoses. A loader valve with available power beyond port has 7 hoses.

A bit of a story on power beyond:

Most mobile directional valves come with a configuration—usually via a plug or sleeve—called “power beyond.” Power beyond can be a difficult concept for those not familiar with fluid power, or for some whom come from an industrial hydraulic background. Unlike “tandem center” valves, which in neutral position flow from pressure to tank, allowing you to use fixed pumps without unloading valves, or to use the tank flow for downstream functions, power beyond allows you to hook up another downstream valve, while leaving the first valve to operate normally.

A power beyond valve has three internal flow cores: The pressure core, the tank core and the through-center (or power beyond) core. If unused, the tank and through cores are open to a common port, and flow goes back to tank as it would in a tandem centered valve. However, when the power beyond adaptor is installed, the through center core is separate from the tank core. The tank port of the first valve still needs to go directly back to tank, but the power beyond can now feed into the pressure port of the next, downstream valve.

The advantage to power beyond is in allowing you to hook up optional sub-circuits to a standard configuration, like adding a log-lift function to a log splitter. The downsides are the extra plumbing, which lead to leaks, and also an annoying effect related to the first valve in the chain.

Note the reference to a plug or sleeve.

Power beyond different styles.jpg

As shown above there are two styles of sleeves or plugs. Each manufacturer will have their own and a sleeve from another company will not work in a competitors valve.

Looking at your valve I believe it is a style that uses a sleeve. The plug you have circled in red would be removed and the sleeve screwed into the valve body. In the center of the sleeve is a threaded hole which is where the 7th hose would connect to be a power beyond outlet for another valve.

If you can find the brand of your loader valve then there is a chance in finding the all important sleeve. Once you have the sleeve you can make your own rear remote.

Actually that is a banjo bolt and I think it is where he will connect his rear remotes to. My MT240 came with rear remotes already and when I added the 3rd function, I removed that banjo bolt and the hard line that went from there to the top of the rear axle to I believe the rear remote "block".

This video may help. It's what I used as reference months ago.

You are correct Bearsixty7, that is a banjo bolt not a plug and it leads to the rear. I guess my pic might not be that great. In my case it goes straight to, I think, the hydraulic block/valve or whatever that controls the 3point? In your case I think you have a valve in between that control your remotes if the videos I have been watching are accurate. I wish I had just gotten the rear remotes with the tractor, but honestly wasn't thinking about it at the time. Thanks for another reference. What 3rd function kit did you go with or did you get it from LS? I would like to add that as well at some point. Thanks!

I went with the WR Long just like in the video I posted. I got it From EA along with the Wicked 60 Grapple, Which was finally available for pickup today!
