Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

Thank you! I'll check with my dealer again. Before I had the work done, I asked about any extension - they checked and got back to me with a "NO". Can you point me to a Kubota source on the extension? They still may deny a refund, but a definitive source would surely help.

PSB-2021-050-E, dated March 31, 2021.

This is an internal only document so no link.

Your dealer likely will not provide you with a copy but I have verified it with two dealers.

SDT,

Thank you so much for this info and your follow up . . . never met you, but you's my friend!! When I had my DPF replaced, about a year ago, there was a post on one of the forums that the warranty had been extended 5 years. We checked, and found that was not the case. This, though, sounds like the real deal! I bit of searching found more on another Kubota site = I copied the following:

Lifetime warrenty= Life of the tractor (PSB-2021-050-E) dated 03/31/2021

" Extend reformer system warranty for the lifetime of the machine The reformer system components will be warranted for the lifetime of the machine. A failure with obvious and deliberate customer interference will not be warrantable. Correct operation and understanding of the emissions system by the customer is vital to ensuring longevity and reliability. Warranty submissions must still be well documented with a detailed explanation of the failure, photos of any damaged parts as well as a project file. "

They are covering:
<>90amp alternator kit for Cab units with Excessive Power consumption during regeneration. (PSB-2015-069)
<>Reformer assembly
<>Air blower assembly
<>DPF muffler assembly
<>Sensors"

I'm going to do my best to at least get a partial refund. I did insist the dealer give me all the removed parts, so we should be able to comply with the photos and parts bit. I'm going into this kind of doubting that Kubota will hand my money back, but ya never know.

It's not Kubota that took your money, it's the dealer.

The original warranty on the emissions system has always been 5 years as mandated by federal law.

If you were charged to repair emissions system failures within 5 years, your dealer has participated in the not uncommon practice of warranty fraud.

No fraud. I bought my 3350 in Nov. 2013. When I took it in for the DPF replacement last year with 880 hours, it was 7 years old and no longer under the 5 year emissions warranty. Dealer, Smith Valley Garage, has a solid reputation. He was charged for the parts by Kubota, installed them and billed me for parts and labor as one would expect.

My dealer confirmed the above info. The bad news is the regional Kubota guy told them that the extended coverage is only going forward starting at the date of the policy change. They are refusing to reimburse me for mine since it occurred after the 5 year warranty and before the "change in policy". I'm out $3750 for parts plus labor (so over $4K . . . I thought it was more before the dealer sent me the work order). I wonder how many others forked over the money for the repairs . . . if I'd have waited for 6 months or so, I'd have gotten the repair for free.

Anyone else run into anything like this? I don't think their policy is fair. Any suggestions or advice on how to proceed?

Not surprising but still worth the investigation.

I doubt that Kubota will change it's mind, fair or otherwise, but you could open a claim with Customer Satisfaction. I did this once and was successful but my claim was less than 10% of yours. I wrote a very detailed and very persuasive letter. There was no reply from Kubota, written or otherwise, but my dealer informed me that Kubota had paid their charge.

I'm about to purchase a used 2015 B3350 in the next 24 hours. It has 700 hours on it and has not had any regen issues to date. ... backed up by the dealer.

My uses are to drag a dressage ring (20m x 60m) and other odd jobs in late spring-fall and snowplowing in the winter. I'm in eastern Canada.

Two questions:
1. Does the Lifetime warranty= Life of the tractor (PSB-2021-050-E) dated 03/31/2021 cover parts and labor, or just parts.
2. Should I steer clear of this or roll the dice, based on my intended uses and this revised extended warranty?

The guy that I'm planning to buy from told me that his 2015 had the emissions warranty from Kubota extended to 7 years from 5 years, so it does not expire til Sep 2022 for his tractor. This was before he was aware of the PSB-2021-050-E bulletin (I told him). Kubota Canada rep even told me it was for only 7 years until I told him of the newer bulletin number.

If this is applicable in your case, and you had the work done prior to Nov 2020, perhaps your parts (at least) should be covered. Maybe this prior change is only applicable in Canada. Worth investigating!

Kubota warranty policy may not be the same in Canada as in the US. Verify Kubota Canada's warranty policy on the B3350 before you buy.

I verified the lifetime warranty extension yesterday with a dealer and he spoke to the regional rep as well. I plan to use my intended purchase in Canada only. Should this be enough insurance to make me want to pull the trigger after reading 30 pages of horror stories? I don't mind forking over $1k in labor if needed, just am not up for $4-5k!

If that’s what you were told, fine.

I had a dealer look into the warranty and the only thing they could come up with in Canada was an extension om the emissions warranty and not the lifetime that's in the U.S. I should contact the dealer again but the emission warranty isn't really an issue for me anymore :)

I am new to this forum. I bought a 2014 Kubota B3350 tractor in May, 2014. As of this date, I have under 50 hours on this tractor, and the dealer has had it for a significant amount of time for repair. Over this nine month period the regeneration need has signaled 4 different times, each time failing. Since this tractor requires successful regeneration in order to effectively operate, I now have to consider it a lemon. Each time regeneration failed cautionary lights illuminated requiring that I turn the tractor off and park it. The last and least convenient time was when I was trying to snow blow in the middle of a February blizzard. Each time it ended up going back to the dealer for reprogramming and repair. Since there is no solution in sight for this ongoing problem, I am now talking to the dealership for remediation. Again, I am new to this forum and would appreciate learning if others of you are having similar problems?
Good luck mine has been in the shop more than in the field at 2000 hrs .they told me I had a lifetime warranty on the tractor.but that don't make up for the down time and all the fuel it burns just sitting there.hal

Don't know how much of an upgrade this is; confused

If you're tractor is in the shop when you need it, you have ZERO pto horsepower.

I can attest to the aggravation of back and forth with a dealer with my Kioti tractor for regeneration issues. This is what happens when the EPA forces manufacturers to find a solution to cleaner emissions. We the owners of these machines are the ones that suffer while they fly around in private jets. I think they have fixed the regen issues so that they work correctly now on all tractors. I sometimes wish I had bought a pre Teir IV machine.

It's not just Kubota tractors with problems. As I said before anything that has a computer is going to cost more in the long run. The computer runs everything and everything has a sensor of some type to tell the computer if it's working right. Every time a sensor goes bad you just about have to take it to a dealer to find the problem and then pay for the service and the parts. Why anyone would want a newer tractor when the old one is working fine is beyond me. Sensors go bad from vibration, heat, and just age, and can go at any time. I hear people say but when the new ones are running right they are so much better than the old ones. I have 3 old ones and they run fine. They have a water temp sensor, and oil pressure sensor, and an alternator sensor. If anyone of those go bad you know what it is, and they very rarely go bad. Then I hear how clean the new ones run. Not if the regen isn't working or the other sensors go bad. The computer monitors the sensors and adjust the engine by what the sensor is telling it. And anyone that replace electrical components on any vehicle know once you hook it up you bought it because they won't take it back. So if you think it's one thing and it's another it's process of elimination which gets expensive. Like I said before I'll stick with the pre-computer models and remember how glad I am every time I see this kind of post.
