Indiana earthquake

I was in a barracks on one of the islands off the Kenia Peninsula, and as i was walking out the door, felt a rhythmic shudder, i was thinking, 'man somebody really has a washing machine out of balance', the shuddering kept up as i stepped outside. Ok, not a washing machine, must be an earth quake. I was told it happened all the time, and indeed, feel it many times. Interesting, i've experienced a few earth quakes, but never one that felt like an out of balance washing machine.

We had one here about 15 years ago. I was lying in our waterbed and it felt like it was full of bumble bees. BZZZZZZZZZ. Lasted almost 30 seconds. I was wondering if I should put another quarter in the slot.

Hard to believe you could feel it that far away.

About twenty years ago I was standing in hay field at end of a valley. Heard a loud low rumble. Then started to see the shock waves roll through the field. It was impressive. Earthquake was under 3 on richter scale

cqaigy2 - "washing machine out of balance". That a VERY GOOD description of how a quake feels when it starts. When you can no longer stand and fall down - it's likely to have been around a 6 or 7.

Been here in Amber for 40+ years now. Not even one quake - kind of nice.

We left Alaska for good - spring of '82. We were driving thru Tok on our way to Haines. We took the Alaska Marine Highway System - Haines to Seattle. There was a quake that we definitely felt, driving in our pickup

How about looking down a line of telephone /power poles. Been there. Jon

Ours felt like a wave machine was hooked to the waterbed. Jon
