I don’t think all of them are “haters”. Maybe just a healthy dose of skepticism??
Seems reasonable to believe if theres roving brown outs and such already happening in peak AC use months that adding millions of electric charge vehicles could cripple the system (unless it’s upgraded) and upgraded with what? More coal? NG? More Nuke? They are all socially unacceptable, right?
Seems like all we are left with is foreign made solar panels and windmills to increase output.
Since when was a brownout conducted at night?

If you were paying attention EVs charge at night when there is excess capacity even on brownout days.

I think coal is great. Even if greenhouse gasses are bad (I think not) then coal-fired electricity powering a Tesla is still cleaner than a 30 MPG gasoline automobile. But the Tesla can effortlessly charge from nuclear, hydro, solar, wind, coal, gas, oil, unicorn tears, or any combination thereof. While extraordinary effort is required to dilute gasoline with ethanol. Or make biodiesel.

I pay attention very well, but thanks for the observation :)
So all EVs charge at night?
ok!
I must have forgot all electric vehicle car owners only work day jobs and only charged at night!
Also didnt know municipalities or companies that use them at night won’t be charging during the day. Or stay at home folks won’t charge them during the day.
Thanks for setting me straight!
All EVs are charged at NIGHT! (repeating mantra to myself)

Big oil and gas kept a dirty secret for decades. Now they may pay the price

Phil you may be interested in past and present accountability efforts mentioned in this article. As a former tobacco farmer I remember those accountability cases. I am one of the kids tobacco helped lift out of poor dirt farmer poverty.

Just like with tobacco anyone that can read and write knows the dirty side of fossil fuels today.

At the same time anyone who can read and write knows the outcome of World War II was heavily impacted by almost unlimited access to fossil fuels as was the post war advances of mankind.

A case can be made the bath water needs to be changed out but I am not in favor of throwing the baby out with the dirty bath water. :)
You are right of course, BUT... The future is coming; and fossil fuels will become less of a source for energy, not disappearing completely, but less significant. And possibly rightly so.

Now that science has shown global warming cycles followed by rising CO2 levels for hundreds of thousands of years before humans walked the earth and where we are at today in the current climate change cycle has next to nothing to do with human activities has been helpful to me.

You are clearly correct that dependable on fossil fuels will peak and go into permanent decline.

The funny part this will occur because of economical reasons and nothing else in the years ahead.

My gripe with eliminating fossil fuels for “green“ energy isn’t the love of the ICE engine.
My gripe(s) is:
1. it’s pushed as an agenda from those in power
2. it could be a domestic boom economy IF they would build ALL the components HERE, but they DONT and they WONT.

I can’t see the logic in the change from fossil to green unless we use it as a way to turbocharge (or “dual motor”) our economy into trillions in economic resurgence?
Why go through all the trouble to literally reinvent the wheel, only to let countries hostile to us make most or all of it and most of the profits?
Why close pipelines and oil wells while simultaneously off shore the replacement solar and windmills components?

Yes... and not that many years ago, it was deemed unharmful to inhale vast quantities of tar, nicotine, and Co2 into one's lungs... Not that I care what someone else does; but, a cleaner, healthier tomorrow is a, "good thing", to quote Martha Stewart.

The big, big advantages hydrogen has are no air pollution and no dead batteries that are not easily recycled (junked?). So what is the "true cost" factoring in the myriad of associated costs with those?

I really thought hydrogen was the way we were going 15-20 years ago. We wouldn’t have to throw all the ICEs in the junk yard (more enviromental damage BTW) and keep going with the current designs, improving them along the way.

The two big rocks hydrogen has are the cost of production and storage/method volume.

Yep, hard to sell people on vehicles with a pressurized hydrogen cell on board, yet easy to sell them on a tank full of liquid explosive on board. o_O
Always had me scratching my chin

But as far as “cost of production” goes, gotta think the savings in not having to redesign the automobile drivetrain would save a lot of cost?
