The 2016 election cycle changed America (maybe the world)...The revelation that so called journalists that had previously enjoyed an accepted aura of fairness and unbiased agendas...went down the tubes...
Along with the so called journalists so went scientists, judges, law enforcement officers and souls of every profession...

I still say we are softer, much softer. Ok so my sports analogy may not make the mark. What about on the battlefield? We had teenagers coming from the cities and the hills alike to volunteer to save the world from dictators, communists and the like.
If there’s a war, I mean a real war, Im not sure this generation has the cahonies…

Look at the railroads, built mostly with picks & shovels, by people eating far less healthy diets and sleeping in cabins with no AC and little comfort.
Farming was incredibly difficult before balers and modern tractors.
The examples are endless.
We are wussified.

My point is that I don’t think the teenagers now would volunteer at the levels they did before.
Just saw a survey of young people that found only 36% are “proud to be an American”.
Think that’s the way it was in the early 1940’s?

Patriotism is nearly dead Moss. Turn on the TV and all you see are America haters cued-up ready to spew all their reasons. Athletes with disdain, actors with hate, ”journalists” spewing hate….
Its no wonder patriotism is almost dead.
If you dont believe that, you are lying to yourself.
I realize large army/troop battles are less important than weapons technology, but this country is fractured. It’s spirit is weakened by what has happened recently.
A house divided cannot stand.
Anyway, it’s off topic.
We aren’t as tough as we used to be. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Right! I agree with that. Someone mentioned would you dig a 300’ ditch with a shovel or a mini excavator (paraphrasing).
Thats obvious- the mini ex.
My point is, I don’t know many people tough enough to hand dig a trench anymore. Or do a lot of the other tough tasks we used to do.
