Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #135,521
The last 2 days I got up with nothing special planned and then stayed busy as a one armed paper hanger until the middle of the afternoon. So this morning I got up with nothing planned and decided to go see if Carter Bloodcare wanted some 81 year old blood. I hadn't donated blood since I had my triple bypass 5 years ago. They were glad to get it.:)

64°F and rain this morning, going up to 81° today. Rain expected pretty much all day today and into tomorrow. Had quite the boomer pass through around 1:30 this morning. Rang the doggie doorbell five or six times from the sideways rain hitting the sensor on the door. The storm upset the foster dog enough that she whined for probably another hour after it passed. Not a lot of sleep last night. I'm seeing a nap in my near future.

Inside day/weekend means lots of studio time. I don't hate that. The Wife is spending her weekend on a new oil painting

She wants lasagna for dinner, so I'll need to make some time to go to the store at some point today. Going to make two pans so she can take one to her father. She still likes my lasagna after almost 18 years, so I got that going for me.

Happy Anniversary, Luther.

My parents were big fans of the big band era music, especially the swinging stuff, as that's what they grew up with. They also liked much of the early rock-n-roll as well. Both were big Elvis fans. Basically, they liked pretty much anything they could dance to. I remember as a teenager in the early '80s seeing my Father one day standing in my bedroom door while I was listening to a Rush album. He commented, "Those guys are pretty good. Just three guys, huh? I'd probably go to one of their concerts with you if people didn't smoke all that funny stuff there."

69°F and .12 inches rain

Back in the caretaker unit today. Hope to get shower plumbing and hang some durorock.

Started watching an interesting series on Amazon Prime, Clarkson’s Farm. Filmed in England, even sheep, made me think of Eric.

I see my grass is growing too fast and will require attention soon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

58F clear 80 for high.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...Ask the Mrs. what she wanted to do today since I had no plans, she want to visit her all time favor store in York,ME. been 1 1/2 years because C19,sooo 99.9% chance that's my plan for today.

Enjoy your day all.

Lived on Nubble Rd in York Beach for a number of years. Sold the house in 1977, understand it is a million dollar property now.

74F and "Fair" @ 13:00, headed up to a high of 80F, 2% chance of rain. Ten Day is calling for chances of thunderstorms over the next 7 days.

Very quiet here right now. Winds 5 mph or less.

Got upper and lower front yard entirely mowed yesterday. Still have a little bit down around the house that needs finished up from the other day ... plus, having been fertilized, it looks like it's growing fast enough that it could already be cut again ...

Also filled up hopper and two sunflower tube feeders. Need to put out some mealworms for the bluebirds today and put cleaned nest boxes back up. Also clean up sparrow trap.

Spraying on agenda for today due to no rain and low winds. Hopefully it will be dry enough to be able to get to the northeast corner of the pole barn barn and get that area sprayed.

More clean up around back, hopefully get board for shelf on Woman's planter cut along with legs for new saw horses.

Need to check garden to see what devastation the critters have wrought. Looked like a deer had busted the top off the zucchini plant when I was back there the other day. Have several zucchini and possibly yellow squash that should be ready to pick before they get too big.

Run box blade over driveway to clean up washouts from recent rains.

Need to run down to the gas station with the 5 gallons cans and get some gas for the Cub and the pressure washer. Cub closing in on the 100 hour mark.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Saturday ... (y)

Good Morning
It’s 69 with as high of 83 forecast for today. Nice clear skies, first since Wednesday.

Yesterday was mostly spent in shop. Helped oldest son change secondary float bowl on the Holley carb on his ski boat. In the process of setting the float level, it dawned on me that the once ubiquitous Holley 4 barrel carburetor has become a dinosaur.

I accomplished my goal of getting the two speakers ready for pickup, so maybe I’ll have a goof off day today, but it’s hard for me to slow down, I guess I’m afraid I might like it. I might go look at a used excavator with a friend today, I hope it’s nice and he buys it. It would be a nice addition to the neighborhood.

The Holleys are certainly easy to set the float level and nearly any other function.

83 and sunny, got 1/2” of rain from storms last night. Grass is sure green.
Been doing maintenance on the Toro today, new plugs, fuel filter and cleaned the foam air filter surround. Filter looks new. Wanted to change the oil but somebody rounded off the fitting on the drain hose. I’m just going to replace the plug with a valve.

Not much going on outside of that.

my brand new Lincoln grease gun has a dripping problem.
first I laid it on its side on the shelf and it dropped a big blob of green grease
on the floor below. Came out of air vent on opposite end of barrel. Ok, so it's like a chain saw which will drip in almost
any position except one golden angle. So I hang it by a clip in the other direction and within 30 seconds I see a drop forming on the bottom.
Not sure what I can do, yes it's hot in the garage but not super hot. So I put a paper towel under it for now and will see if it keeps leaking, which
I bet it will. Then I'll get out an oil mat sheet, not much else to do. Messy items.

Just bbqued 11 lbs of pork chops and a 20+ pack of Nathan's hot dogs. Got some kids coming over later.
Wifey taking a nap. I sure wish I could easily take a 30 minute nappy. I can't turn the light switch off that fast.

Well, got the haircut (way overdue, by the way) and mowed most of the lawn. Didn't do the fenced in yard since wifey wanted the back door open and letting some air in. She doesn't like the smell of fresh mown grass...probably a bit allergic.

The little chainsaw does work better using my left hand...and I've got some trimming to do tomorrow....may as well rig the chipper to the tractor as well since I've already decided not to mow the field this year.

When I got home from donating blood this morning, we went to visit the younger of our two daughters, so my wife could see the new litter of pups she has; Maltese/Yorkie mix born on 7/6/2021 (yep, 4 days old).

When our 10 year old Chihuahua (Dee) died at the age of 10 on 01-22-2018 I think it hurt me more than any animal's death ever had in the past, and I just have not wanted another dog. But both of our daughters think we should have one, and my wife wants one, and my daughter's dogs run to jump in my lamp anytime we got over there, SO I reckon you know the rest. Daughter says our new dog "Ripper" (name picked by wife) will be ready to wean and leave his momma on 08/25/2021.

my brand new Lincoln grease gun has a dripping problem.
My guess is that it's not so much the grease gun, Drew, but the grease that's in it. Last month when we were all talking about grease in another thread here on TBN, I watched a couple videos that explained that grease is just oil with binders that act to thicken it. If they use a cheap binder, the oil tends to separate out at room temperature, especially if it's a hot room.

There's a Lincoln pneumatic grease gun hanging on the peg board in the garage, and it's 110F out there right now. I just checked, and there's not a trace of oil on it, and it's hanging with the plunger down. It's loaded with Lucas Oil 10301 X-Tra Heavy Duty Grease, which also just happens to be green. It's an NLGI-2 polyurea grease that's rated GC-LB, which means it's good for both high speed bearings and extreme pressures, like you'd find in FEL pins. And it stays soft at low temperatures, too. Pretty much a one-grease-does-it-all kinda deal. And at about five bux a tube in a case of 10, it's not that much more than the TSC red stuff.

For now, you can stick the bottom end of that grease gun in a tin can, or put a baggie onto it with a zip tie...

I was aggravated that I didn’t get the oil changed in the Toro, so I went back out and cut the plug assembly off the hose, changed the oil and filter, then found an insert plug in my kit, tightened the clamp and took a ride.

It had a slight surge at lower rpm, but I discovered one plug as at the proper .030”, and the other was .018”. After installing the new plugs I put some SeaFoam in the tank. I fired it up, it surged one time and smoothed right out.

71° at dusk, 89% humidity.

Got a lot done today.
Mowed yard, grass was still wet some when I started. Planten stems didn’t cut well.
Wife weeded most of garden, it looks real nice.
IMG_0656.JPG

Put grapple on tractor and moved large limb that came down in storm a week ago.
Also pulled up another bush near creek that’s in the way mowing.
IMG_0641.JPG

Grabbed a pile of pine limbs I cut a few weeks ago and had tucked between a couple pines waiting for the grapple to go on. Decided to take them to the large pile on other side of creek. Once over there with grapple, decided to clean up some more. Got one area cleaned out, moving everything to the large pile in the old mill race.
IMG_0644.JPG

Cleaned around some other trees also, no pic. Dug out the rock I hit my mower blade on one day, turned out to be about 20” long rock, dumped it in the creek.
Was finally able to break the wild cherry that uprooted and hung in another tree years ago, with it free was able to push it out of the way. Need to cut it. It’s still in the air as the trunk is in the creek.
IMG_0645.JPG

Then attacked the last pile and found a couple of these while I was digging a stump out with the BH.
IMG_0647.JPG

Still got a small pile of dirt that I need to move with the bucket.
Cleaned up some more along yard treeline.
Supper was first tomato and green pepper, and lettuce from the garden.
Got new LED tail light on my 16ft trailer. Did not replace the other side that still worked. Soldered the wires and put heat shrink on. Trailer needs new breakaway switch (at least cable) and battery.
Also dug out old basketball pole. Wife was standing right in front of where it was, right by the dirt pile, I asked “see anything different?” No. “Look down” good thing there wasn’t a snake there.
IMG_0652.JPG

Also sprayed 2 gal roundup and mixed 2 more. Put sevin in an old sprayer tank, same size / model as the one that leaked. Rinsed it good first, not sure what had been in it before.

A good day, lots of seat time.
Sure beats 2 yrs ago today, laying in hospital bed unable to walk and they still didn’t know what was wrong.

Good evening all. 74F for the start, breezy, partly cloudy. Clouds built up during day, windy day, and high temp was 91F, HI 100F, and DP 72F. Puttered and prepped for boat launch, left house to go drag kids around the lake for a couple of hours. raft was too big to fit under top so had to put top down, but nobody got sunburned :). Wind messed with me big time during boat recovery, but got it on trailer correctly. Got home and took nap :)

67F @ 22:00, headed down to an overnight low of 65F. Good chance of rain late.

Took two bags of shredded paper up in the bucket of the Kubota and dumped on compost pile. Went to cover up first one and got a good squirt of hydraulic fluid out of the right curl cylinder. It's been dripping for a while now, figured it was close - it will be on the menu this coming week. At least glad it happened when there is so much rain the forecast.

Got another 25 gallons of RM18 sprayed, mostly over around the pole barn. Got that northeast corner done, also the drive leading down to the barn, and some touch up on the rest of the driveway.

Finished area around house that hadn't been mowed.

Filled hopper feeder.

Located Loctite Blue thread locker up in the shop, put some on the tip of fireman's nozzle and screwed that back together. Hopefully will solve it backing out.

Finished cleaning the 3 nest boxes and sparrow trap, got those all put back up. Saw neighbor over in the woods moving wood chips while I was up at compost pile doing that and stopped to jaw jack for a while.

Started mowing area around house that was mowed a couple of days ago, got the east side done, and some on the west and the back. It's growing fast and getting thick.

Inspected garden, doesn't look like any further damage. Picked one zucchini and one yellow squash which were ready. Got some red chili peppers coming on but they are still green. Medium hots doing well. Tomatoes plants getting bigger.

Got some raking of leaves and debris done on hill at southwest corner of house, still a good bit more to go. Had sprayed it awhile back, it's mostly dead now.

Fish fed.

Glued 4 caps on to some 10" pieces of 3/4 pvc for the next watering rig, should be about ready to glue those into the crosses.

The Squeak is out in the garage and wouldn't come in when The Woman called her a little bit ago.

(Woman informed me the other day that Squeak has discovered that the seat on the Cub makes a good place to take a quick cat nap ...)

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Got the shower controls roughed in, but not glued as I’m lacking 2 important fittings. Not rushing to town to get. Got about half the durorock hung and will finish that as I can do by leaving a loose panel where I’m missing the fittings.

Had an interesting diversion. Some texting and email back and forth with a person a neighbor recommended for the potential caretaker in search of a work exchange/living arrangement. A disabled vet which would be even nicer should it work out. Won’t get a chance to meet in person for a couple of weeks so no hurry to make a decision.
