That's what I meant by a level playing field; environmental and labor laws are just two things which should be similar. We did our fair share of polluting in our day; I remember walking the bridge over a nearby river years ago and you could barely breath. Now trout are swimming around down there... although I'm still not sure I would eat them.Im with you on the first reason you cite, but not on the second. The Chinese polluted their way to success. And everyone knows it.
Another difference back then though is that we were helping to rebuild many nations which were destroyed during WWII.
