Mahindra 3616 blower broken shafts

For this specific failure mode, it's maybe a bit of a stretch, but are you setting the augers up out of phase with each other? I've never had a Berco customer chewing up gearboxes with any regularity, but incorrectly positioned augers can beat things up fast.

I know this was 2 years ago. But did you ever figure out why your input shaft was breaking? Mine, 66" on a 3016, just broke.

I forgot all about this post, yep bhildret I make sure the augers are in phase, and strathhamboat no I never have, I just broke #5 this winter.

Input shaft breakage is relatively rare and the items previously mentioned in this post all apply. This specific post is the only case I am aware of with repetitive input shaft failures.

Key items of consideration: 1) properly phased left and right augers, 2) correct OEM shear bolts in the auger and fan, 3) check auger shafts for bent/bowing, which can cause excess loads on the input shaft/gear box (that's pretty rare).

I have the smaller blower for the Max26xlt. Gear box went out after about 5 hrs of use and this is a new unit. I haven't repaired it yet to find out what broke. Have been seeing augers offset per decal and using proper grade shear pins. I wish it was a chain driven auger instead of having a WEAKNESS gear box.

There may be a belt at the blower end of the drive shaft that is broken.

Finally got around to working on the Bercomac 56" snowblower. Turns out that the propeller shaft broke just inside the gear box at the point where the shaft is machined down. This may create a weak point in the shaft. Not happy. This is an expensive blower with only a total of 4 hours of use. Plus takes alot of time repairing.
