40 years and I haven't lost one yet. The only things I've ever lost were my two good axes, but should have thrown those in the cab before leaving it for the week at a "park and ride." Then there was the Subway sandwich which was in the bed in the morning but gone when I came back for lunch... I still haven't figured out if that was a two legged, four legged, or winged snake which scoffed that.
If I was doing a lot of towing though, I'd take the 2500 over the 150 any day of the week.

Yep! Aint one good solitary reason for stealin

I got my favorite weed eater borrowed off my truck. The side boards on my ton truck are too high to see over so it’s fairly secure but I’d been hauling scrap and the bed was full of oil so I had the weed eater on my trailer. I was stopping to eat and the starter was giving trouble so I didn’t want to shut it off in the drive through. In the 5 minutes it took to go inside someone borrowed it.

Technically or up to is the key words. Most of them aren’t. A 2500 is still a better tow vehicle. A 2500 suburban is a pretty light 2500. Truthfully they’re like a 5/8 ton.
I towed my Ford 3400 TLB from MA to Nova Scotia and back, as well as towing my L48TLB 350 miles from Maine to MA., with the 2500 Suburban.
Either machine with trailer, weighed 12,000 lbs.
Not recommended, but no problems,...... definitely don't tailgate!

Rural Maine is reasonably good.

Yea my excursion doesn’t have the brakes either. It’s still better than a 150 from the same period. I never towed anything heavy with my 2500 suburban. The transmission was on its last leg. The excursion wins power/transmission wise. The suburban probably had better rear suspension. Even if it’s weaker I’d still way rather have a 6.0 Chevy over the v10. I usually tow with my 750. It’s overkill but when you hit the brakes it stops.

I put Air Lift air bag shocks on the 454 V-8 Suburban.
Easy to install, and made a big towing difference.

I’m not that worried about the saggy back end. It’s the stopping that’s the weakest link. My old trailer brake box wasn’t very good. I’ve since changed it but I haven’t towed anything besides my lawnmower to see how much that helped. New pads and rotors might help but I’m probably not going to. If it was my main tow vehicle I would but I’ll just keep using the 750.
