prv on gc2400 is spring loaded valve, when springs on a prv are worn they sometimes don't react correctly when hot.

There are 3 components in that diagram that can cause overheating issues.

Like mentioned before, a tired or broken spring can cause extensive heat to the oil.
Next two things are a worn cone and/or worn valve seat.

If you check on the valve assembly, an intact spring is not always a green light for proper functioning. Pull out the cone and check the surface.
And still, after visual inspection of the parts, you can not eyeball the physical condition of the spring under load. A pressure test should have been performed already at this point.

yup I after I relplaced an FEL cylindr I again placed adapter on my FEL to gauge to check, when hot, running at the (for GC2400) 1910psi. I was 1920 so left it.
