Need advice

I have a kubota m9540 now and need dual rears to be able to safely mow my steep levees. Mowing up and down is not an option. The kubota dealer says the 9540 can't handle the dual rear tire stress on the axle.

Does anyone have recommendations for a dual rear tractor in the 100-125hp range? I have deere, case and kubota dealers close by.

Are bolt on rear tires as good as ones on the axle?

Have you discussed adding wheel spacers with the Kubota dealer?

Wheel spacers would give you 8" - 12" of total additional width, without the tire weight.

Has your Kubota a cab, which increases weight and raises the center-of-gravity?

I have not asked about wheel spacers and yes it has a cab. Thanks for the reply.

Best look at factory designed double wheel designs as they will be made for the axle stress. Even putting on spacers will add to axle stress.

I agree with Egon, now. The cab on your Kubota probably weighs 850 pounds and that weight will be 3/4 riding on the rear axle.

Without knowing the size and scope of your levee's, what about an offset flail mower, a boom mower, or a sickle bar mower on the back of your existing tractor?

Levees are about 15ft high and most have water constantly at their base. I like idea of a sickle bar but how big do they get? I would need a really long one... 15ft at least. I don't think that exists. Thanks for the reply

How long is the distance and grade? Just a 2x4 with level on it and a tape measure works (length-height).
I mow my steep grades with a Cub Cadet zero turn...very steep. It's very safe, quick, easy.

How tall is the grass you have to cut? Is it like a lawn? Or a field?

Wow, how much mowing are you doing to justify a 100+HP dual rear tractor?
Have you considered an excavator with a brush hog or flail? Sounds like a better option than getting a huge tractor stuck because one wheel went swimming at the bottom of a levee, but that’s just the picture of myself as the operator in my mind.
