I'm guessing this has been debated before . If you can post a link that would be great.

I have about 40 hours on my Branson 2515H and will be taking it in for the first oil change and Fluid Swap .

I believe the book states 300 hours for next full service . Do you guys run your tractor the 300 hours on the same oil
or should a guy change it every year regardless of the hours ? My guess would be 60-80 hours a year seeing how I only get to
use it on weekends .

Thanks
Dan

Still do mine every year give or take a month or two. I run AMSoil synthetic and the tractor is outside under cover.
Metal absorbs moisture. If your tractor sits outside with no cover at all 1 year is a no brainer for me.

Engine oil? Yearly.

Hydraulic, at the prescribed intervals unless otherwise needed (like water contamination)

I don't go by hours of use for engine oil, I go by the calendar. A year has been a good interval for me. You can go by hours for the hydraulic fluid unless it gets contaminated by moisture or something else.

Is that 300 hour service for transmission or engine? My service manual shows engine every 100 hrs and tranny every 300 hrs.

If the manual says hours.....one can safely do it by hours. No matter how many years it takes to get there. Companies study and test such things. If they thought it would make much difference, they'd say some thing like "100 hours or annually."

Sure, if one changes oil more often than recommended, it may add a couple hours to the engine life. But insignificant in the long run.

Furthermore, if any engine is run periodically, like weekly, and run up to operating temp for a bit, it boils off any moisture inside. If water in oil was a concern, the engine makers would call for more frequent oil changes OR specify draining the water out periodically since it would be at the bottom at the oil drain plugs.

Engine making is not a new thing.

Possibly, to much Jameson Whiskey while looking at the manual . I will recheck :) My plan was 50 hours service at dealer and then once a year with Rotella T6 . Hydraulics I'm sure was 300 hours but will probably change every 2 years . Thanks Guy's

So if I put say, 5hrs a year on my snowblower, I can safely go 20yrs between oil changes?

Thanks! Didn't know that! (y)
