Hi all, I got a small oil leak from the bottom of my drivetrain. It is up by the clutch area. I am still learning this machine so I do not know exactly what piece this is. It may be upstream of this component. What is this component in the picture? It has oil on it when I wiggle the "stick", but it may be coming upstream.

It had no leaks that I could see prior to me getting it stuck in some soft material recently. the "stick" looks bent. Ideas?

Thanks in advance! Otherwise just an awesome machine!

Apparently that is the clutch split pin plug. So, it appears I have a very small oil leak somewhere on a shaft seal, or elsewhere. It has actually basically stopped almost, and no leaks under pressure. I assume this means it is a dry clutch setup? It is clear, so it is hydro fluid, stick shows full.

I have also used the 4WD a lot, seen other posts where they talk about this.

Not sure on a L48 but when that happened on my L5740, it was a seal on the output shaft from transmission to the front wheels. Had it replaced when the drips changed to streaming when hot.

@MHarryE what was the overall process for that? What was the shop bill, or did you do it yourself?

about 2000$ dollars. have to split the tractor to get to it. and splitting an l48 is probably more complicated. might be cheaper if you send the tractor in without the backhoe and loader.

I could have done it but needed tractor immediately. Dealer couldn’t get to it for over a week - 2 tractors with same problem ahead of mine - so I traded.

Dry clutch or hydraulic shuttle (no clutch) makes no difference at all, t's there to drain the bellhousing of acumulated water and leaking seals too.

When the drip goes to a stream, time for a split and a new seal. Have a drip on my M9 open station, I ignore it. Heck the gearbox holds almost 15 gallons so it would have to leak a lot to lower the fluid level.

The more stripped the unit is when it's split, the less it costs because you get charged shop time to remove the FEL and backhoe which have to be removed to split it anyway.
