Well, bad news. Ended up falling through. The sales guy has been really flakey and eventually I became worried about having to be stuck with this dealership as my only resource. After a talk with the GM I bailed on the deal... :/ I was pretty set on the M4 and not sure what to look at next.

Deere, New Holland and Massey Ferguson are likely options.

An M4-71 uses 84", 96" and 108" wide implements. Bare weight 6,000 pounds.

Bare tractor weight is a tractor spec with only slight measure variations between tractor brands, readily comparable across tractor brands and tractor models, new and used. Shop your weight range within competing tractor brands.

It would help YOU if we knew your location.

I buy tractors from two dealerships, both are about two hrs away so unless I need something and am their way I rarely use them for anything (but I will save a list to buy at their stores if I can wait i.e. filters for my next changes etc). As a general rule I turn my own wrench and get everything I need from Messicks. Sorry the dealer is flaking out on you, sounds like you were getting ready to drop pretty significant coin on them.

I'm near Bozeman, MT. I gave them every opportunity to take my money. I tried to buy a kx040 from them, a laundry list of implements, etc. I could have sucked it up and taken the tractor, but just the thought of having to deal with them every time I needed parts or service was unappealing. The local Deere dealer chain has been great for my mini ex (deere 35g). I might take a look at the 5090, but it's starting to be a bigger, more complex tractor than I intended. I don't really like the smaller Deeres as it seems difficult to know who made it or where.

No joke! I don't really need the tractor until next spring, I was just excited to have it sooner. The dealer clearly was not concerned about selling the tractor to someone else, which is fine, but some day they will have plenty of inventory again and might have to try a little harder...

Took an unexpected turn! Ended up deciding to focus on the construction side of things for now and get on with my projects. I picked up a 74hp compact track loader with a 6 way dozer blade in addition to the normal bucket. Can't wait!
