I dragged the log splitter out a couple weeks ago, and like always that Honda motor fired right up first pull after sitting a year. However it ran about 10 seconds then died. I walked back over & it started first pull, but ran rough, then popped a few times, then died. I guess it was finally time for some engine maintenance. Drained off some gas, there was a little water in it, thought that must have been it, and put it back together. started first pull ran 10 seconds and died. So I repeated process, but added some dry gas/fuel treatment. Started, then same thing died after 10 seconds. So this time I completely tore down carb, really clean inside, but I checked every hole, needle, surface, nook, & cranny in there anyway. I then drained all the gas, no water but added fresh non-ethanol anyway. Reassembled, and started first pull, ran 10 secs. & died. Only 1 thing left to change. Of course this was now Sunday afternoon, so even if Napa had a plug for this, they were closed anyway. Got plug a couple days later but it was the following weekend before I could get back to it, sure enough, changed plug and she runs like a champ again. Sorry, no tractors, & no pics to accompany the story, but I would think if your reading this thread, you likely already know what a spark plug looks like! Just sharing a story and a recommendation, if you can find non-ethanol gas, use it in your small equipment, Carb was super clean, after 4 years of use and sitting all those summers, so worth it.

I was thinking vent in gas tank cap clogged but spark plug would have been a better first choice. Good story Loader man.

Hah, I was thinking fuel filter...(y)
Trickle flow fills bowl, 10 sec runs out the bowl.
I was thinking the exact same thing..

I did leave out a few steps, but on one of the stalls, I quickly opened the screw at the bottom of bowl and had good flow out of the drain. But I couldn't give every detail , you all would've have solved it halfway through....

Some oldies, back when I was doing ~6 cord a year between 2 wood stoves. Now we have a OWB and a newer tractor with a winch, just drag the logs to the boiler cut and toss em in. Last year was roughly 16 cord
So you went from burning 6 cords a year in two wood stoves to 16 cords a year in your OWB? Were you also using some other source of heat when you had the wood stoves, or is the OWB just that much less efficient?
