65-77 today, looks like clear skies, yesterday was socked in overcast but no rain.

Drew, you had a a Hemi Ram you should know if it suits you. Mine is old but I love it. Lots of power but sucks gas like a wino sucking down MD 20/20, but I’ve only put 7000 miles in it since February of 2020 so it’s not that big a deal. Mine has that very light Hemi tick like they all do, wouldn’t notice it if you didn’t know.
If the market ever settles down I might look at a mid size, but for now I’m riding.
It does sound like the Honda dealer is stringing you along.

I might work on the golf car today, grass is 16 days and still doesn’t need mowing, one more might do it for the season.

66...our septic system install looks to be scheduled starting the end of the month. Ladies and gentlemen, that is close to a years effort with regulations, studies, permits, scheduling and bureaucracy to get to this point. That should be embarrassing point for my local and state governments.

After it’s installed, maybe a news story on why it took so long? But hundreds of thousands see road construction projects that drag on for years with little work being done, so I don’t think they will be embarrassed.

Good Morning.
It’s 62 with a high of 72 forecast under cloudy skies until this afternoon.

Yesterday was a productive day, made good progress on speaker, and then decided to work on CarryAll. I noticed that the upper shock mounts were both broken off the frame, probably for a long time. I removed the dump bed to gain better access, had to disassemble a few other things like the shift linkage to get access to weld the mounts back on. As it’s all aluminum, I needed room to get the TIG torch in place. Considering that it’s a 1998 model, you can imagine how clean the aluminum was, so it was a good test of the new welder. The operation was a success, but not very pretty. Between the dirty metal and limited access, it was a challenge. But it’s done.
I noticed that the bump stops were MIA, probably the reason the shock mounts broke off. New ones are on their way here from Amazon. Also the dump bed hinge bushings were pretty much non-existent, so I made some new ones out of Delrin. Grandson sure was dirty when I brought him home……

Today starts out with a trip to Newport News, but should be home early in the afternoon to spend some more quality time in the shop.

Wife reports cat seems to see better today.

I have never seen a good deal on a late model used vehicle, even before these crazy times. Used were always higher than new. Car dealer keeps wanting to buy mine.

Need to get moving, the gold mine is calling me, got all those new taxes coming to pay.

One question was remotely related to mental health. I left it almost blank, after it said circle your response, I simply wrote “why?”
The dr didn’t mention my lack of participation, but I’m sure it was noted.

Good morning! 57˚F heading to the 90s and plenty of sun. It will be getting a little warmer each day.

Getting the little Honda tiller out this morning to make sure it starts and heading to the garden to till it. The next rain is not till late next week that's when I'll have my Fall/Winter garden planted.

Saturday is the neighborhoods big semi annual Garage sale in the ballroom parking lot. It's a hundred garage sales in one with a lot of good STUFF. There has not been a neighborhood garage sale since the Covid started so this will be a big one. It is very well organized and last for 4 hours only. You rent a parking space and display your items. We sold 100% of the things we put in it the year after we moved here. This year we might buy one or two items.

Drew I saw one new Ford Ranger, 2021 Tremor model, in the dealership parking lot when I was getting an oil change.

Dog is going to the vet today, they (stepson & Dil) cannot seem to cut her nails but the vet will do it for a price.

Worked on the simplicity yesterday and had the kid take it for a drive.
Still waiting for the drive belt, and still trying to figure out how to add/change tran oil without disassembling half the rear on the lawn tractor! (too many projects, not enough time)

Went and chopped out some more poison ivy vines, some almost 2" thick

Randy-hope the z-pack gets you well, good luck with the sale prep- must bring back a lot of memories.

Wife has so many decorations-now she wants to know how to preserve the live pumpkins better, I was thinking wax?

Drew - sorry about the truck-sounds like a sham from the dealer (wouldn't be one that starts with an F would it?)

I have a Jeep GC- used-before I got it computer replaced, headlight computer replaced. and when the brakes wear down they have a tendency to lock and catch fire (had it happen to one caliper front and one back, so twice). Transmission is not all that great, but Hemi really pulls. Gas mileage 16-17.

No rain in the 10-day, and we'll be back into the 80s by the end of next week.

I think it was Drew that surmised that automation would make things easier for us all. But as I look around at the automation that surrounds me, I wonder at what point in my life I'll no longer be able to maintain it myself, and if I'll be able to find someone competent enough to maintain it for me. I've already had misadventures that required multiple trips to dealerships, finally giving up on the problems and selling just to get out from under. Both the van and the solar power system were/are goat ropes, too. Perhaps when the time comes that I can no longer stay on top of things, the avenue I'll be taking is simplification, not automation.

After the massive increase in construction traffic after the Camp Fire, roundabouts were seen as a way to streamline traffic flow, and several new ones popped up in rural locations. But they weren't real roundabouts. Instead, they just rounded the corners, painted a circle in the middle of the intersection, and put yield signs where each road came to the "roundabout". It didn't take long before people weren't even slowing down, shooting straight across the lines on the road like they didn't exist. I've driven/ridden real roundabouts in the UK and Europe, and these home grown adaptations are anything but. Leave it to government to screw up a perfectly simple idea, and turn it into a safety hazard.

Sorry about the continued delays for your Honda, Drew. But at least the salesperson is communicating with you again. I've given up on modern vehicles, myself. They're so complicated, it's impossible for service techs to stay on top of the technology. And when something goes wrong, the manufactures shrug their corporate shoulders and tell you they've never heard of that problem. But when you google a little bit, you come to understand they're putting their head in the sand, leaving you holding the bag. You get something ten or more years old that's been out long enough for the problems to be identified, and the aftermarket to come up with solid solutions, and independant mechanics to learn the idiosyncrasies, and you run into less difficulties. You just need to find a reputable independant that specializes in that line of vehicle, and take their advice while you're shopping.

I can't remember the last time I purchased a used vehicle that turned out to be as represented by the seller, Rich. But glad you know the difference and have the wherewithal to make up for the deficiencies. Any chance you'll just throw a set of lights on it and license it for the street? That could be some fun on the back roads.

I was going through most of a tube for the backhoe and loader pins every 10 hours of operation, RS. That was every other day when I was doing all that trenching this past summer. Still have a few tubes of the green stuff left, which I'll continue to use, but I don't think I'll be going through it quite as fast. I'll still keep some on hand for bearings and such, but will switch to the moly grease in the next few months for the pins.

Made some progress on the new light switches in the garage, but still not there yet. Hope to get that finished this morning.

Got a call from the scrap yard that the railroad rails were ready for pickup. But the price was only about half what I expected. Did some googling, and it turns out that track is rated in pounds per yard, not foot. And that the number is part of the marking on modern rails. What we ended up with had "139" on the side, so each 7' piece only weighs about 325 pounds. That's about half what we expected, so that explains the price. Not sure it's enough, but I'll try it out and then decide if I should get another piece or not.

63°F and partly cloud with a little fog, going up to 73° today. Some rain passed through early this morning, and more is expected this afternoon.

Wife had mentioned last weekend that we might clean up and store the kayaks for the Winter. I noted that we were supposed to be in the '80s for this coming weekend, so we're probably going to try to get at least one more day out on the water somewhere, maybe paddle a local lake. Looks now like it might get near 90° on Sunday. One last warm weekend? Maybe?

I am kind of starting the think the same thing, Ted. I recently took a little break because of argumentative fools on another platform, and honestly I didn't hate it. Helped me recognize that I've been spending too much time on the internet. Sometimes, a break is good, even from a mostly fantastic thread like this one.

Hahaha, Ron ... we have three dogs and two cats in the house (and yes, I've had that discussion with The Wife). I am constantly either picking up toys and putting them in the toy box, or scooting them off to the side of the hallway to lessen the trip opportunities. My favorite is constantly finding a ball right at the top of the stairs. I sometimes think they are doing that on purpose (they are Border Collies, after all).

Mostly, don't know about Kenya AA...there is a seasonality/harvest period for coffee...interesting thing is that is exactly what I was drinking this morning when I read your post...I looked at the greens supplier I use, and they have Kenyas, but just AB, not AA.

Since yesterday was a drizzly day, we did a Costco run to get our flu vaccines...we got the quad, and then picked up some hoarder stuff . Then went to the nearby nice outdoor mall and had too much Italian lunch at Maggiano's and walked a couple miles around the mall, window shopping and looking at the beautiful flowers and whitewater "river" outside of Orvis. Glad to see a fair number of shoppers for a Wednesday afternoon.

I've got a lot of catchup to do if the grass/fields dry out later this morning. Our grass is still growing pretty well now that we got a rain.

late yesterday dealer advised me in another email they hoped my Ridgeline would be in by end of year.
They are just trying to get rid of me and my discounted deal so I said that's enough.
Bought a 2014 Ram Longhorn hemi, 88k miles, charcoal grey, clean carfax, ran great. I didn't have Ram boxes last time so
that will be new. Has heated seats and steering wheel, important for our winters. Price was a little high compared to KBB
but what isn't today and it seemed fair. Didn't even dicker, I'll do that when he gives me the final trade number from Manheim auction
next week on Audi.

this has been a disappointing and annoying experience. I'm getting about 9 grand back from the car sale so that will buy a lot of gasoline.

now to go clean out the car and delete all the nav entries. Picking up truck tomorrow afternoon. It sure needs a full detail.
