Ed- Depending on the med, Mom should "calm down"soon. It does depend on Mom and the med given. And yes, the primary care giver takes the brunt of the improving care receiving individual. My prayers for your wife. She's a heroine by any definition and you a hero.

Various. Had to use three chains. I left it in two wheel drive during the pull.

Ed- Prednisone is quite "activating." It can make one pretty manic-like just like drinking a lot of cups of high test coffee. It can really rev up the emotional states and can increase appetite and weight gain too. It's one of the most powerful of anti-inflammatory medications, but it has strong side effects too. It really opens up the respiratory airways. It saved my life.

Honestly I stayed wired until my dosage decreased, but I was in my mid 50's. The elderly may "burn out" more quickly due to unaccustomed increased energy and activity. Is Mom on a tapering dosing schedule for the Prednisone?
