Attached are the Bobcat 3rd function kit installation instructions. Hope it helps.
The use the word 3rd function and diverter in here. But it seems like it is a 3rd-function, because it talks about routing power beyond which would mean a 3rd function. Am I losing my mind; is this a 3rd function or a diverter install?

The key difference: 3rd function added means all three functions can be used at once (original 2 plus the new one have independent controls). Diverter kit means one of the original functions is diverted by a valve you activate, while activated only the new function will work and not the original function that got diverted.

IF it has PB routing then it is a third function.

If it is a diverter, there is no PB. The only hoses you have to mess with are the two hoses feeding whatever function you are diverting from.

In my case, I did diverter, and used the lift/lower function. So the TWO quick couplers out of the 4 on the loader valve that go to raise/lower....are the ONLY two hoses on the tractor I had to mess with.

Simply unhook them....and rather them run from the loader valve straight to the raise lower cylinders......they go to the diverter instead. Then from the diverter....one function goes to raise/lower and the other function goes to the auxiliary

Yeah I have a pretty good hqndl on how they work, was just curious based on the Bobcat installation guide posted what the dealer installs when they do it.

Sorry about that. Just had a look at those instructions, interesting way to do it.

As far as using the FEL, what Bobcat installs is a 3rd function. However, they use a diverter valve and divert oil from the 3 Point hitch (and backhoe if installed). Since it is not likely that you would be opening/closing the grapple at the same time as raising/lowering the 3 point hitch, it’s a slick way to do it. Don’t know if it’s common with other manufacturers as I’m too new to tractors.

Interesting that aftermarket companies don’t take this approach.

Ahh ok. So it is really a diverter, however it functions like a 3rd function because of the fact you would not be using 3pt/backhoe at the same time. That is clever. Thanks for the clarification.

Ok finally got around to reconfiguring the install to work how WR Long does it. What I had worked, but this is much cleaner and easier to remove the loader. Pretty happy with the install. A bit of paint made it look almost factory. Haven't put it to work yet, but liking the grapple from peavey Mart too. At $1400CAD, a good deal, even if it isn't as nice as the EA one.

Thanks. I bought a Kioti 3rd function kit which fits ok, much cleaner than some of these universal kits.... but I can't seem to find the power connector everyone is talking about? Is it not on the BobCat? If I can just connect into a fused circuit that would be much cleaner.

We added a fuse to the fuse box and ran the power to that fuse. The universal kit I got said to run it right to the battery and had an inline fuse. But I figured it would be cleaner to use the actual fuse panel.
