A bit off topic, but your description reminds me of an old fellow I knew long ago who made his fortune selling swampland around Orlando in the 1950's and '60's. He would tow his fishing boat around behind his Rolls Royce but had trouble backing it down the ramp. His solution was to have a hitch intalled by the front license plate. He couldn't go anywhere without a dozen questions about that hitch on his Rolls!

Good catch ! You are exactly right, it is not angle iron! I had started out THINKING angle iron when I had the original idea and then my steel source guy suggested he could take heavy steel plate and bend it to suit, so I had it custom bent from flat stock. Seems to me it was 5/16" but might be 3/8".

Oh does that bring up another good visual oddity! If any of you have a chance to visit Anchorage AK and spend a little time around the seaplane basin (they rent seaplane slips just like we here in Southern MD rent boat slips!) The apparent main means for taxiing float planes to and from the water is an old 4WD pickup truck that has been cut in half right behind the cab. The rear half and bed have been discarded. It only has some dolly wheels at the back of the cab and the orig front bumper rig is about the same as a receiver hitch with a ball. They maneuver planes in/out with great visibility (and steering) using only the remaining front wheel drive of the old pickup.
Stubborn leak persists. Is now even worse.
I replaced the banjo bolt and crush washers and got them tightened as much as I think they can be without breaking bolt again.
am now thinking that the leak is coming out of the metal hydraulic line.
it just seems to drip until you raise the 3 pt hitch up and then it sprays out with a vengeance (being careful not to get my skin near).
what are best options for fixing this?
It looks like it will be a huge headache to remove and replace the line.
are there ways to repair in place (can barely get my hand in there) or to replace just that section?

on a good note I did get about half an hour of grading the drive before I noticed that my right calf was getting soaked from hydraulic fluid!)

Well, if you have a split hydraulic line there is only one choice: replace it. With low hours on it like that I'd think you get it to a dealer and get it fixed right and have it over with.

By all means fix it..
hydraulic oil ain’t cheap.!!
In the meantime, take a short piece of hose, cut it down the middle on 1 side..
wrap it around the leaking pipe and zip tie both ends..
Simply to deflect the spray..

Follow up question: Why would it spray out hard when I lift rear hitch to the top? Is there some pressure relief valve on the b2400 that’s not working? Are you not supposed to take the hitch all the way up (unlikely)?

No, there is no reason for you to need to baby this tractor. To be candid it looks to me like there are a lot of rough treatment indicators with this machine. Too much wrong for a 200 hour machine. I recommend you get it to a dealer, request a once-over and have it fixed right once and for all. With such low hours I am assuming you want to keep it quite a long time.
