Value Proposition: What Makes Your Brand Of Tractor Better Than The Others?

Of Course, this is simple. BECAUSE it is my tractor! It is the best! And if you get one, yours will also be the best. See, simple!

So very true.

I bought mine, primarily because of my RTV-x1100 experience. Was impressed with that, and started my tractor search with the same dealer. It's my first tractor and I simply love it.

I knew nothing of tractors when I purchased. Dealer was/has been great, for a guy who knew nothing of tractors and diesel engines when I purchased, he was always readily available to me when asking questions in person, or email. I wish they had been more upfront about ongoing tractor costs, in my desire of more attachments though. (They had to know that would happen)

It seems for a lot of people, it's the color of the paint, orange, green, red, blue, a lot depends on brand loyalty. Just like Ford, Ram, Chevy, GMC and so on. In the hinterlands where I live the biggest factor would be a tractor that doesn't need parts, service or support. Reliability would be the primary if not sole factor.

My Ford kind of came with the house. I was not a Ford man but this little Shibaura has impressed me many times and has never failed me in 28 years except when the battery failed it. Times to the dealer - zero. Parts purchased for it - front tires, muffler, seat, filters, and front axle seals for both sides - not a lot of cost for 28 years. I did have to do a little re-wiring when a mouse decided to nest in it one year (I was gone for most of the winter) and it is getting in need of new rear tires.

I wish it had live PTO - I was shocked to find a tractor that new that didn't have it - but I have found my way around it.

My Versatile 150 - because it is the coolest and most versatile tractor around. What other tractor can you drive it forward both directions, use like wheel loader where you can see right in the bucket when you are using it, and still pull all standard implements like a normal tractor? It is light enough for the lawn when it isn't too wet but has 70 hp and four wheel drive to do some real work like carrying big round bales, logs, mowing, dirt moving, etc. and a very nice mobile work platform.

For me it's Deere because:

1. The history of the brand emotionally connects me with the amazing history of the US.
2. I can buy and get service from a so-called "real" dealer instead of a lawnmower shop.
3. I do most of my own troubleshooting and it's super easy to find tons of detailed information online.
4. I do most of my own maintenance and it's super easy to find parts everywhere and get them NOW.
5. I've had great experiences with their products and support.
6. Resale value can't be beat.
7. If you have a dealer near you that you don't like, there's another one down the road. They're everywhere.
8. I like supporting American companies even if some of the parts are made elsewhere.

I really like this question and can't wait to see some of the other answers. I'm not brand loyal to anything at all with one exception - John Deere. Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge? Who cares. But there something different about a Deere tractor. I know I'm paying a premium but I'm good with that.

Sounds like a good dealer. The manager of my dealer is on first name basis with most customers after he meets them. Having a good dealer is have the distance to having a good tractor. Best Wishes.

Okay, following the rules. My 1220 Ford is the toughest little tractor I've ever come across. Its a little tractor. And this is known as a little tractor, 14 HP at best. But this thing is built like a tank. Its the little tractor that could do FAR more than expected to do as a little 14 HP Tractor. And for 20 years I exceeded every weigh point on this thing. Beyond the load limits. And beyond what it was designed for. And it still worked. There you go.. my little tractor.

That's why I love Ford. Ford is the best tractor there ever was in my opinion.

I have been a member of this site for almost 2 years and during that time I have seen the passion that many of you have for your tractor brands. I can often times feel that many of you have to hold back your feelings about the brand of tractor you drive when others make perceived disparaging comments about it. So instead of starting a thread to just answer a question or seek buying advice as so many on here do on a daily basis I thought it would be fun and interesting to create a space for everyone to share their passion and reasons for why their brand of tractor is better to them personally then the others. If it helps, imagine you are the sales person and everyone reading your post is your potential customer that you are trying to persuade to purchase your chosen brand of tractor.

Mine was simple, I bought my tractor from the local dealer who actually wanted to sell me the kind of tractor I was looking for. I just needed a simple machine for haying, cutting ditches and pasture clipping, blading a driveway, tilling up a couple of acres, and other general utility tasks. A ~75 HP simple open station utility tractor with a loader was what I was looking for, preferably 2WD due to the tighter turning radius and because I didn't need MFWD for those tasks. I didn't need a cab, a hydraulic reverser transmission, or more relays than a track meet. I was initially looking at used machines but kept just missing out on ones that weren't beaten to pieces or missing a loader as anything pre-emissions in fair or better condition was snapped up right away. I eventually gave up and looked at new machines.

I was a little surprised it wasn't fall off of a log easy to buy my tractor. Cattle are pretty much the only agriculture going on in this area and pretty much everybody uses a 50-75 HP open station 2WD machine to pull a rake and be a second tractor for feeding if the main 100-130 HP unit is in the shop. The smaller operations use these kinds of tractors as a main tractor for their operation. Apparently Deere and only Deere knew that as they had a dozen of them on the lot at the local dealership and happily sold me one for an excellent price, while the other makers either don't make this kind of unit or they never carried them on the lot and didn't really want to order one. So, my tractor is green.

I am happy with my tractor as it has easily done what I have needed it to do and not given me trouble. I will say that a lot of so-called "must have" features certainly aren't, and a simple machine like mine is comfortable, maneuverable, reliable, safe, has excellent visibility and traction, and farmers have successfully been using machines like it for a very long time, far longer than they've been using extremely complicated ones.

I would not say that I was passionate about by Branson. I am glad I have one. It is tough, heavier duty than most, and has no computer. Nearest dealer of any kind is an hour and half away. So simplicity was important for fixing things myself.
I beat the tar out of it in logging and snow removal. Only issue has been the joystick.

We moved down from Alaska in 1982. With 80 acres and a mile long gravel driveway - I knew I was going to need a tractor. I shopped around - the best dealership was a family owned one in Spokane. So ... some 30 years ago I bought my first tractor from this dealership. For 30 years they have treated me right.

When I upgraded to a larger tractor - Kubota M6040 - I obviously looked to this dealership. They provided an excellent unit and their service, etc has remained superior.
