Deep in the Guinea grass of North Kohala Hawaii. Kubota MX5200 with a RCR1872 cutter.

Oooh. I don't get jealous often... But I am now. I have been to the Big Island once and if I ever go back that is probably where I will spend most of my time.

The canopy cover was made locally by an excellent craftsman as a gift. The frame is 1/2 in galvanized conduit. He had a lot of waterproof camouflage cloth to use up. Good to ride in the shade. No need for a cab here.

X2. Keep an eye on radiator and temps. Especially of HST....don't take much and debris and she will start running hot

No critters to worry about in the grass. The cattle egrets follow behind to pick off the bugs like gulls behind a fishing boat. No snakes in Hawaii to worry about. The temp went up while mowing so I did my first screen clean. The 6 foot cutter is at its limit behind the MX in this grass. Low range the whole time.

Did 30 acres of conservancy land mowing yesterday. Lots of 10’ tall miserable Bradford Pear and radiator-clogging goldenrod.

Anyone notice what I almost hit in first picture (below)?

Hit a chunk of concrete and bent a blade. My DeWalt 60v impact has just enough to remove the 1&1/2“ bolts…

Some lovely mowers/tractors in this thread. Makes mine look insignificant. Have to post a pic later as I fitted my mower back on yesterday and did a bit. Plenty more to do. I use a Flail.
Hay Dude, pity about the blade. Doesn't look like it had done much work.

I thought the same until I replaced it. The new blade was about twice as heavy and much less bent!

Makes me miss mowing season already.....

When we had the drought I didn't have anything to mow for about 5 years. Now it is growing flat out! Nice to have grass again.

Stripes:

I retrieved my dad’s (RIP) flail mower out of long term storage recently, aka the weeds along the overgrown fence. Later I noticed the nice stripes in the pasture from the porch. Nice side benefit to the flail, along with no windrows. :)

I can still remember a time when I didn't care about mowing. Now I'm consumed with it!!!!

Keep eye on the air filter also for overheating. Clogged air filter will cause overheating and many miss that.

Goldenrod is especially nasty for clogging radiators.

So nobody wants to guess what I almost hit in first picture?
